It looks as if Barrie Tilghman is starting off her Mayoral Campaign early because she knows she's in deep sh!t. Announced in today's paper, Barrie Tilghman and Louise Smith will walk Church Street on Jan. 26th from 10:00 to 11:30 AM to voice their "Joys & Concerns."
Oh, BITE ME! First of all Louise, if you're so Handicapped, how the hell can you go walking for 1 1/2 hours, yet you can't park 3 spots into the parking lot at the GOB?
Secondly, if it weren't for my return during the Church Street clean up a few months ago, you would have never walked the streets cleaning up trash. You would have simply taken credit for it all and done nothing. I happened to be the first group back taking pictures as we were returning and you took off behind a house and just stood there.
When I realized you had gone off on your own, I took it upon myself to go look for you and there you were, standing there with an EMPTY trash bag just looking around. Now granted, at that point I went back for more supplies and it forced you to actually do some work but it was all for the Photo Op and NO ONE else showed up besides Salisbury News. Let's not forget the Mayor immediately bowed out and never participated.
Nevertheless, just what do you guys think you're going to do? Walk the streets and tell everyone what you like and don't like about their neighborhood? I'll give you a better idea. Why don't you bring Chief Webster along with you and I can even top that. Why don't you do a meeting with the Police Officer that patrol that area and ask them what's up with that neighborhood?
I'll give you one better. Why don't the two of you WALK THE DOWNTOWN PLAZA and open your freakin eyes for once and see what's right and wrong about that neighborhood too? Oh, that's right, it's EASY to walk Church Street because you can just point fingers and place blame on everyone else. If you walk the PLAZA you'd have to point fingers at yourselves for proving you're failures and it's so much easier to blame someone else.
I'd say it's far more important to revitalize Downtown than it is Church Street, wouldn't all of you agree? I believe Tom Stevenson covers that area as well as the SPD. I believe the Mayor and Louise Smith need some accountability and they should start by proving they have a plan and they can actually accomplish something positive for the Taxpayers.
This is the early stages of Barrie getting back the Black Vote again and she's off to an early start. However, this time there's the Blogs. Let's see who wins this time Barrie!

The handicap that Louise Smith has is up top, not in her legs or feet.
So...you're saying that Barrie opted out completely for the real work and Louise just stood around (until you showed up)? Typical--they're just in it for whatever self-promotion is to be had for each. Both are exceedingly shallow--ethically, emotionally, intellectually. It's always all about them. Church Street residents are just the latest in a long line of people who are used (and used up) by Barrie. In a word, Barrie is a meat-grinder.
Yes, Barrie Tilghman showed up in the very beginning in the hopes of being recognized and then she used the excuse her Son was in Town and she was going home to make him breakfast. She never did anything.
Then, as I stated, I was returning with my group and as we were 1/4 mile away from the staging area, Louise Smith was sitting in a chair next to Tom Stevenson and Staff. Once she saw us she got up, walked away with an empty bag and HID behind a home around the corner. I went to find her and there she was standing there just looking around. We did get her rolling and working but if I hadn't been there with a camera, she would have done nothing.
I recall her telling someone at one point she had collected TWO bags of trash. I'll say it flat out, BULLSH!T.
Everyone else did the work, including Shanie Shields. Let me also assure you, Louise couldn't have caried TWO bags of trash to start with and guess what, we were the first group bak and I'll be damned, there were no bags of trash there. Hmmmmmmm?
I should add, I never received that Certificate they gave out a couple of weeks ago, even though the Mayor called out my name that evening.
Great point on on Barrie talking to the officers that work church street. The only way that could happen is if there was on one from SPD admin and if the officers could remain anonymous. Let these officers tell what is really going on out there. Too bad they can't put it on here.

The reason the SPD officers can't put it here is because the high school dropouts are too stupid to write.
While we're on the mayor and Lewisal, what is all this city commendation crap at the council meetings? Every week the mayor has to get up and read a commendation for someone or something. Just takes up good time when the council could be productive for the tax payers, don't you think?!

we rarely agree on much, but this i'm with you 100%. The current mare given another term would continue to run SFD into the ground, not to mention the city we protect. Not one voting member in my family better dare cast a vote for her. I wish she would show up on my street trying to lobby votes. The people that live in my area dispise her and would send her packin, or hurt her feelings.
