LET ME JUST SAY THAT PHOTO SHOWS A UNIT HEADED TOWARDS CAMBRIDGE WHICH WOULD MEAN THEY WERE HEADED TO BALTIMORE WITH A PT TO SICK OR INJURED FOR THE LOCAL HOSPITALS TO HANDLE. THAT BEING SAID ITS NOT BULL SHIT, WE CARRY THE PTS WHEN THE HELICOPTER IS GROUNDED. OH AND BY THE WAY WE HAVE NEVER HAD A FATAL. YOU MAY BE CONFUSING US WITH ANOTHER PRIVATE COMPANY IN THE AREA. AND THAT UNIT HAD A FAULT WITH THE REAR LIGHTS WHICH WE CANT PULL OVER AND FIX IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CALL THAT MAKES THEM STAY ON. AND PERHAPS YOU SHOULD REALIZE HOW DANGEROUS IT IS FOR YOU TO BE FOLLOWING AN AMBULANCE THAT CLOSELY AT THOSE SPEEDS BEFOR YOU CRITICIZE SOMETHING YOU HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT. AS FOR YOUR MOST RECENT POST MY HUSBAND IS A FIREFIGHTER AND EMT AND IN THE ARMY NATIONAL GUARD SO HE IS A REAL MAN...
The fun part about owning this Blog is that I get to respond to IDIOTS like this. First of all, let me state that I was NOT following closely to this vehicle. Secondly, I hit my high beams on this vehicle and the politely turned off the light, FOR TWO SECONDS, then they turned them back on IMMEDIATELY thereafter.
The Idiot driving this vehicle was saying, LOOK AT ME, I'M COOL! I'll add, I was in no way incorporating the Local Fire Departments in this article. I was simply stating, (especially after the Hebron accident) SLOW DOWN!
As for the threat that I may be next to be picked up, you know something, that truly is scary. One never knows when and if something could happen to anyone, including myself. It makes someone like me think, I hope I die first before you arrive, rather than be abused along the private internal route of one of you ASSHOLES to the Hospital! Thanks, but NO THANKS! I'll call the Sheriff's Department if I need any help. At least I know I'll be protected.

If you are running a private ambulance YOU ARE WRONG if you are running high speeds. You are not allowed to speed unless your lights are on and then you have to use common sense and not drive or be in gross negligences while soing so.
I private ambulance transports from one facility to another and usually not critical pts. unless ALL other units are too busy to do so.
Other words Lifestar is a wanna be ambulance chaser and charge medicaire way to much money for their services which we pay. The business is worth millions and guess where they got it, medicare medicaid.
Grow up one day and try to get a real job if you can and work for a real fire department.

i wasnt implying you would be next or even to you specifically I was saying to people in general that we all need to be respectful, oh and call the sheriffs dept if you are sick or hurt they will call us anyway. yes i know exactly what happens with the lights and if you hold the button down they will stay off, however thats being fixed. thats why you think that they flashed them. trust me, call my boss we are tracked they have a chip that tells them everything we are doing. how fast we are going, where we are/were, what lights were on, doors are open everything. oh and by the way I am not an idiot I am actually pretty respected by all in the ems field. dont be rude, i wasnt rude to you. i was simply explaining something that appears too complex for you. on a lighter note i know you personnally, next time I see you I will let you know who I am. anonymous 312, the lights wont go off, and I do work for 4 fire companies. You obviously have no idea how pts get transferred or you would not have made such stupid comments. You need to grow up befor you talk about shit you dont know. And technically any ambulance that does not have lights on and is speeding is wrong. Read the dot book, I have. I never said we werent wrong for speeding. I was simply trying to explain a situation about the lights and reply to the comments, most of what I said was not even for joe...
WOW! It's amazing! It's like everyone's opinion matters! I think that it is insane that a traffic violation can muster up so much hate and jealousy.

This is not unusual for this company and another local transport company. The owners are fine people with emergency service background. These units are supposed to obey the speed limit unless their lights are on, but I have seen otherwise. Please call their office and ask for Jackie or Bruce Fowler. The office manager is Mike Parker. Address your concerns.
Joe in this case you are right in which the ambulance was going too fast for not running in emergency mode. Yet the method you went about this was wrong. If you feel someone is driving irresponsibly you should not follow them, just call it into the proper authorities. I am a firefighter/emt-b and have ridden on almost every ambulance in worcester/wicimico counties so i am biased against these private ambulances acting as real ones. Yet the job they do is important and they have to ACT RESPONSIBLY when doing their job. this was irresponsible by many measures. If this was a critical pt by all means you can go that fast if you are in EMERGENCY MODE. In the light of the recent baltimore incident we are all under the spotlight here these failed. It is respectful to defend your colleagues yet it is dignified to admit they are wrong and stay respectful!! Those are my thoughts on the issue.

I was not chasing this vehicle. If you'll notice, it was heading in my direction. Business Rt. 50 towards Hebron. I turn off at Memory Garden Lane, quite a ways away from where I took these photos and couldn't keep up with him. Also, don't think for a minute I didn't have my lens zoomed in on this guy. For those of you who think I was close, I was not. At certain points, (because of the light at Nanticoke Road) I was able to get close to him and I certainly admit I wasn't doing the speed limit at the time but I was trying to get a tag # so I could do something about it.
I'll add, I get sick and tired of getting additional bills on my cell phone for calling 911! We ALL pay monthly fees for the damn thing. Then when we call for an emergence to HELP THEM OUT, we get billed additional fees to make the call. It's Bullshit!

I was sitting at the intersection at Rt 13 and Mt Vernon Road in Pricness Anne the other day when these jackasses from Lifestar came barrelling through the red light, lights and siren. Lifestar Ambo's are priviate ambos. They're nothing more than a taxi service between medical facilities from what I understand. The nuts are going to kill someone before it's over. Keep an eye out on the road when you see one of their units, usually they're driving like maniacs.
If Lifestar has to come pick me up, call the undertaker instead. I'd rather be dead than have some of those yahoos attending to me!
That's correct. Most Lifestar EMT's can't cut it elsewhere, that's why they play EMT and drive up and down the road like they're somebody when in reality, they're not.
Joe what are you smoking saying you get billed for calling 911? I've called 911 at least 6-10 times from both my Verizon Wireless phone and AT&T phone (before it became Cingular, and now AT&T again). I've never had an additional charge. If there were I'm sure outraged people would be all over the news with it.
First of all Ambulances are not cool, fire engines are cool in my eyes. I get so tickled watching some of these guys that look like J I Joe with pants tucked in their boots, scissors, rolls of tape, pens, lights, & knives hung all over them. Some of them look like their going off on a recon mission when their actually hauling granny off to the doctor. By my own observation weird people work for ambulance companies and most have been rejected from fire departments. Yea in the past several have applied and denied or left the fire company because they didn’t make the trip. Hummm, ever notice how fact some of them are? Even better how about the ones who back the ambulance in their driveway and have another one out on the street. You know you’re a redneck if that’s you.
There may be some truth to that. However, have you ever thought of the kind of people these people are picking up? I know I wouldn't want that kind of profession. I'm not defending them OR attacking them. What I am saying is that it takes a special kind of person to do that job in the first place.
I know they're important to the people they're picking up, is all.
Joe, your last comment is correct. They are important to the folks they pick up, and I've had some experience with that.
If you see ANY company's vehicle driving badly, call the state police when it's an immediate threat to other drivers. And call the company. Companies want to know when their drivers are doing something wrong. It's an insurance, lawsuit and PR risk, and they will take action because of that.
From a PR standpoint,if I were the manager/owner of Lifestar,I would severely reprimand any of my employees who took it into their own hands to post something like that on a blog.Pissed or not.

So you are that stupid that you think the Sheriff's office will call you, Lifestar ambulance in the need for a medical emergency? You guys aren't a real EMS operation and you are full of yourself if you think you will get that call for assistance from a real public safety office like the sheriff's office.
Trust me I know how good a provider I am.....
If you are such a good provider then why are you doing the wrinkled butt shuff for a taxi company like lifestar. You people would shit a big load in your pants if you ever had to be dispatched and work a true emergency. At least it has been documented on several occaisons that the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office has actually worked and arrest and qualified for a save with their skills and AED use. Any you miss wannabe EMS provider how many saves to you have under your belt. Taking a vegatable from Salisbury Nursing Home to PRMC just for an X-ray doesn't count as a save.
Those who are inadequate to the real EMS world go to ambulance transport companies and those who are inadequate for ambulance transport companies move on to the Red Cross.

As a show of its support for public safety officials the give a complimentary cup of coffee to them. These wannabe's go in there all dressed with there Bat Belt and Paramedic Pants loaded down with emergency gadgets and pants tucked into their boots trying to look the part. The poor clerks don't know the difference so they let the Deathstar Wannabe's take advantage of them. They really abuse a good thing and they are going to ruin it for everyone.
I swear, I've seen real ambulances on real emergancies drive less recklessly than Lifestar. I used to work for a nursing home, and I know the nurses wourld call for Lifestar to take a patient who was bedridden to Dialysis, and they almost never showed up on time. Must have been scoring that free cuppa joe from da wawa.
I honestly don't have a problem with people new to the EMS field "cutting their teeth" at a place like Lifestar. They can learn in a low pressure atmosphere where most of the time there is no risk of them making a major mistake.
I know personally that the paramedic instructor at worwic worked at lifestar, 6 out of 8 career ems providers in pocomoke worked for private companies, a high number of the paramedics at salisbury worked for private companies, all the paramedics in princess anne worked or work at a private company, delmar has atleast 3 career personnel who worked or work at a private company and atleast 5 paramedics who work in ocean city also worked or work for a private company. Its a good place to start out when you are new since there are not alot of job openings in the field. also some people are unable to work the rotating 24 hour shifts of most of the larger ems companies because of college or family obligations. And yes some people like it and dont work ems at all, thats their decision. I am a paramedic and I know its not unusual to work for several different companies when you are waiting for a full time position to open. Alot of companies in the area have a list of providers they use part time and I have seen several other providers names on more than one companies list.
