The Salisbury Fire Department will GIVE you a FREE Smoke Detector, all you have to do is go by any Fire Department and pick one up. Get this, these guys are so cool about it too, they'll even come to your home and install it, NO CHARGE, if you're not able.
Yes, they'll even throw in a free battery to go with it. Now don't go acting like a bunch of Bogarts and go in there asking for free batteries. Do what is right and visit the SFD and get one TODAY! This is NOT something you should wait on.
All too many times in our lives we think, I'll do that tomorrow. Tomorrow may not come Ladies & Gentlemen, so do this for your children.
The last time the City of Salisbury had a fatality from a fire was all the way back in 1998. The ONLY reason why the Family passed away early this morning was because they did NOT have Smoke Detectors.
Here's something cool to think about too. Have you noticed how Toy Companies and Remote Controls no longer use 9 Volt Batteries? I'm not saying ALL of them have stopped but most have. The reason being is, they don't want families removing the batteries from their Smoke Detectors and using them on toys instead.
The Federal Government should force all companies to stop using 9 Volt Batteries for toys and save lives instead. So please, go to your Local Fire Department and ask for a Smoke Detector. Show these men and women you care about your Family and you want to save lives.

I think I will buy one that does carbon monoxide as well. I very much appreciate the fact that the FSD would do it for me if I was unable, and that they do take their time for those that can't. Kudos
Joe, this proves what I have known about you since I've been reading your blog. You aren't against the Fire Department or Fire Fighters per se, you are against the mismanagement and leadership as well as the racist assholes. People, wise up, and realize this. Joe's only agenda is one of ACCOUNTABILITY.
If Joe isn't against the FF's, why doe he post so many LIES about us? You're just buying into his BS instead of finding out the truth!

Also,wanted to add-dont think just because your smoke detector is hard-wired(hooked up to your electrical system)that you dont have to check the batteries.If you have an electrical fire and the power goes out its no good.
So anon at 6:42 just what lies are being said? I read people responding to his posts using vulgarity and crying about how he hates firefighters. But never have I read where you prove what he has posted to be a lie.
Instead of just saying he is lieing, post what you believe to be the truth. And put your name to it. You dont have to put last name but at least a name. It will go so much further towards credibility.

You know what would be a good idea? If the community teamed up with the Fire Department to go around to houses and help check fire detectors, give them out when needed, and put batteries in them. It would be a great way for the Fire Department to build it's PR and POSSIBLY take the sting out of that $10 million garage they built. The Fire Department could train the citizens on what to do, issue some kind of ID card, and have the citizens "sign out" a bunch of detectors and batteries. That would "free up" the Fire Fighters for education and fire fighting.

The fire department does go around neighborhoods and check/distribute smoke detectors regularly. Lately the extreme call volume and lack of workforce have led to a decline in this practice. If you have any concerns, contact the FD's lieutenant of inspections: Larry Dodd, JA can give you the number

I'm telling you all, these are not fire fighters making these comments. They are being made by those that support the anti albero blogs. They will never give credit where it is due they'll only continue to fuel the fire, no pun intended. They know if they push Joe's buttons he'll come back and lash out. That is all they want to do is set him up for a class action lawsuit. I'd love for some law enforcement agency to verify the IP addresses on Joe's site meter. I bet that would shut a bunch of these fools up.
If you are fire fighters, which I doubt the majority of the fools are, you are only adding credibility to what is being said and thought by those of us reading this blog.
You contradict yourself in that last message. As I'm sure some of the comments are in fact made by the Anti Albero Blogs, some of those Blogs are owned by Fire Fighters. Off The Fluff is one of them and Salisbury Blowbox is another. So spew all you want. Until they are gone and until the Fire Department stops attacking me, my Wife, our Families and our Grandchild, information will continue to roll here. Think about that for a while.
