Last week an Ocean City Police Officer was charged with a DUI after heading home after a Christmas Party with the Fraternal Order of Police. Officer Jesson wrecked his vehicle and was immediately charged with the DUI from the Delaware State Police.
Wilbur Jesson served in Iraq and had his entire career ahead of him but accountability is what it's all about and the man is fortunate he didn't kill someone.
DiPino stated it was a very disappointing day but IMO, thanks for "Kepin It Real" Bernadette. It clearly shows Ocean City made the right decision hiring you. Even if you're a friend of Chiefy Webster's, LOL.

Joe, I believe it was Delaware State Police, at least that's what was reported previousely.
Too bad those very high standards are not applied to "The Chief" herself.
What is she doing about the rest of the drunken cops that drove away from that party? She cant claim he was the only one drunk there.

I WAS TO GO ON DUTY AT 11P AND AT 7P THAT SAME EVENING MY CHIEF OFFERED TO BY ME BEER. STATE TROOPERS FROM BERLIN BARRICK LIVED IN MY DISTRICT AND THEY WERE THE WORST TO DEAL WITH. DRUNK DRIVING, LOUD PARTIES AND PLAIN OBNOXIOUS. AND WE WERE TOLD TO LOOK THE OTHER WAY, COPS DON'T ARREST COPS. ACCOUNTABLILITY AIN'T SHIT UNTILL IN COMES INTO THE PUBLIC EYE. LIKE THIS IDIOT, NOBODY WOULD HAVE KNOWN BUT HE PUT HIS CAR IN A DITCH. THATS WHY YOU SEE THEM FLYING DOWN THE ROAD AT 90 MPH GOING TO THE GROCERY STORE AND THEN GIVE YOU A TICKET FOR DOING 65 MPH. WAIT UNTILL THEY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT AND KILL SOMEONE THEN THEY WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE. ACCOUNTABLILITY SHOULD START WITH STRICT ENFORCMENT OF THE RULES BEFORE THEY ARE BROKE AND FOUND OUT BY THE PUBLIC. MY CHALLENGE TO ANY CHIEF OR DEPARTMENT HEAD IS MAN UP AND STOP IT BEFORE YOUR PEOPLE PUT THERE CAR IN A DITCH OR WORSE YET KILL SOMEONE.

I do not believe you should fire a person because of a DWI, no matter who it is. He hasnt even been found guilty yet.
I have had had two DWI's and know what... my employer on the the last one paid for my rehab. They should give this guy a break.
I am not even sure you can fire a person for being acussed of a crime.

What happened to Innocent till proven Guilty? Suspend him, then fire on conviction!
He was on probation, and you can be fired for ANY reason while on probation. He most likely will receive a pbj or plea down to a lesser charge and get hired by another agency. A dui is not a restricted offense for MPTC certification. Hopefully he will have learned his lesson. What other jobs will terminate you if you get a dui. Not may I'm sure. I personally know over a dozen teachers in Wicomico County that have been arrested for dui and there still teaching. Don't get me wrong I think dui is wrong but everyone deserves a second chance.

Well, thats differant, how would Bernie keep her job if she did not cover that up. Its who you know is what got her that job over many very qualified people, and everyone in OCPD knows it. That is why she was voted on by the local FOP to be unable to handle the position.

You might want to keep an eye on this one, it may turn out to be a classic example of how police take care of their own. Mr Jesson was taken to the station after being found in his wrecked vehicle, the first officer was trying to "take care of it" until they did a breathalizer. Mr.Jesson scored a .32 BAC at this point the Deleware police decided that this was too high to let slide, go figure. Is this really the kind of officer you want protecting your family. Thank God that he didn't kill someone when he crashed his truck.

Wilbur Jesson was wrong with the dui.. How does anyone know about his military history, or his dui. a .32bac? are you kidding me, how would he be able to function. Well lets talk about the ocean city police department.. Chief pulled over and let go for a dui? wow i guess people didnt know that. A sgt and PFC who were both married within the department cheating on there spouses? un moral. another officer let them use his condo for this. Other officers got dui and one almost killed someone, put in the hospital in critical condition. Wow.. pretty sad isnt? what wilbur jesson did was wrong. period. but to bash this guy about is unreal. people should grow up and let it be. Mistake yes! what goes in the ocean city police department unmoral.
