Last Monday night, Paula Morris was recognized by Council Woman Debbie Campbell and Mayor Tilghman for her work and dedication in an organization she created, just for kids.
By incorporating the Kids of Honor model into your youth program, you can empower participants to be fully engaged, excited about learning, and hopeful for the future. With Kids of Honor, you can learn to build positive Developmental Assets* with participants and their families. Combine your efforts with Kids of Honor and kids become connected… to your program, their families, their school, each other and to life.
How Kids Of Honor Works...
The Kids of Honor model uses a two-tiered approach in helping youth reach their full potential. We begin by partnering with youth organizations already in existence, and give each site a pattern to mold and overlay their existing program. The program uses a point-based system of tracking each child’s positive choices, and involves children and adults working together to assess personal behavior and set frequent goals. Every month, the students are acknowledged for their improvement and growth, and each site recognizes one student as the top point-earner, or monthly winner. At the end of the school year (or program term), the monthly winners are eligible to win the yearly award of a $500 scholarship. These funds are invested in the child’s name and only available to them when they graduate from high school. As a way of following each student’s progress after they have moved on from their youth program, all of the monthly and yearly winners are invited to join in the Kids of Honor Connection Club.

Most people do not realize that 1 out of every 3 kids in America does not finish high school. We're here to support kids and their families in their quest for success. Thanks again for the kind words and support!

Congratulations Paula. I'm sorry our illustrious mayor was so distracted. She probably saw a rat.
Debbie Campbell demonstrated once again the positive things she values for our community by requesting this commendation for Paul Morris and the Kids of Honor program.
Thank you, Joe, for posting about it. Thank you, Paula, for caring, and congratulations to these kids and the volunteers helping them turn their lives around for the better. And thank you, Debbie Campbell, for promoting such positive things in our community, not for how it looks politically, but just because it's the right thing to do!
Good choice on removing the comment that was in poor taste, Joe. Even for those of us who don't care for the mayor, it was tasteless.
Maybe a dumb question, but why is Shanie Shields not in the picture?
Kids of Honor is making a positive difference in young poeple's lives. It empowers them to have faith & beleive in themselves & their future.
It was shameful of Ms. Shanie to arrive 20 minutes late & not be present to congratulate the students. I guess she doesn't care.
Is DingleBarrie sniffing her armpits in that bottom picture? I knew she smelled, but I didn't think you could smell it on herself? I think it was Tim who said he always felt like he step in something when he was around her.
