It looks like the people making financial decisions for the City of Salisbury can't keep their own finances straight. In fact, in today's Daily Late & A Dollar Short Times they advertised Council Woman Shanie Shields home going into Default and up for Auction!
Look at yourselves, citizens of Salisbury. It's no wonder Mayor Barrie Tilghman wants a custom made Council that will do whatever she wants. It wasn't that long ago Councilman Gary Comegys was dealing with his own fair share of financial problems, including a bankruptcy and failure to pay child support.
Chief See of the Salisbury Fire Department declaired Bankruptcy and former Council Woman Von Siggers has also experienced her fair share of ups and downs throughout time.
Should Politicians or Department Heads be accountable for their own financial faults or defaults while they're running the finances of the City? I mean, after all, who cares about the City's Budget being on time, right?

They should be held accountable. If their job is overseeing /managing City $$$$$$.
If they can not make repsonsible choices with their own money, what makes us think they can with ours??? That's something to make you go hmmmmm......

I believe Not Nutz is the one and only mayor? Yes, Joe people who can't keep their own finances in order certainly have no reasons to be running for office and mess up the Cities finances. Still want to know where the audit is? Dec. 8th has come and gone ten days ago. Or was it we had to wait til Dec. 31st? Amazes me that there is this new dept. and they can't keep things on an even keel. I'd fire the bunch of them and start all over again. And include the auditors in that firing too, please!

When Rusty Molnar was on the county council, that was what so many people had a problem with. He couldn't manage his own finances and affairs but yet he had creditials of being the county president? I think not. He didn't have the knowledge or education to run the county. It was a good day when he lost the election.
Maybe Salisbury residents will take the same stand against the mayor and council and show the community who these people are elected to work for. It is not their personal money to throw away, it is your money. Take back control and put people in there to look after you and not themselves.

Seriosuly,in all fairness,Shanie is just one of MANY people being foreclosed on lately.With mortgage rates skyrocketing,alot of people are losing their homes and whatever equity they might have had.I am sooo glad we didnt fall into the trap and buy a house when it seemed like anyone was getting approved for a mortgage-we would have been hurtin' for certain now.
Deed of Trust is dated last year? Foreclosed this year--she got delinquent pretty fast!!!
Maybe she had a reality check on the taxes she just helped to hike.
As for Not Nuts, my money is on Mike Dunn. Didn't the mayor say "we still have plans for you" upon his exit from the council?

Mike Dunn is the mayors communications guy, he's writing scripts for Bubba and Louise.
Funny you should mention Dunn writing scripts for Comegys and Smith. Many speculated that he wrote Comegys' grand command of the English language Op-Ed on the University recently. Perhaps they are right.
Funny how he and Cathcart wouldn't run (the blogs ran me out, I need time for the grandkids, blah, blah), yet they find lots of time and ways to slither in the background.
