Wayne Gilchrest Gets A Piece Of Granddad's Mind

Today I got a letter from Wayne Gilchrest on "Congress of the United States House of Representatives" letterhead.

The letter was addressed to me personally and covered topics which would be of particular interest to business owners. Since I am a registered Republican and a business owner licensed by the State of Maryland, I can only presume that he got my name and address by purchasing a mailing list from either the board of elections, DLLR, or a local chamber of commerce. Either way these list cost money.

The letter contained a copy of Gilchrests signature and at bottom of the letter, in small print, was the statement "This mailing was prepared, published and mailed at taxpayer expense".

I find it disturbing that he would send this letter to me and countless others during the months preceeding an election year since it was paid for by taxpayers dollars. What I find most disturbing, however, is the underlying deception attached to this letter. It is obvious that the letter was sent as part of a campaign strategy, yet if questioned later could be "technically" justified as an attempt to communicate to constituents the issues which are likely to come before Congress in the future and his position on these issues so as to solicit input from the voters. Bullshit! I've never received any letter from him before. To me, it is obvious that he is currently using taxpayer dollars to fund portions of his campaign. In a time when taxpayers dollars have been stretched to thier limits, how can ANY candidate justify spending more of those tax dollars for personal gain.

Wayne, I have voted for you in the past - but those days are gone. My parents raised me to believe that when you take anything that doesn't belong to you, it's considered stealing and the last thing we need in office is another self serving thief!

Right on,Grandad!Taxpayer financed materials are supposed to be for Congressional business and it is unethical for WG to use government property to assist him in his private campaign for re-election.It may not seem like a big deal but he is soliciting votes at our expense
