Breaking News!!!!!

There is a buzzing rumor going around that Doris Schonbrunner is now THIRD in charge of the County. She was supposedly voted in yesterday as the new assistant county administrator.

You haven't read this anywhere else Folks and as I called James V. Fineran this morning to confirm, his only response was, "NO COMMENT."

IMO, good for Doris! Let's just hope she can separate her feelings towards the Sheriffs Department while the Citizens can be proud and happy she has found her new place right here at home? If it is in fact true, welcome back Doris.

Mike has no boss (besides his wife) he answers only to the voters of Wicomico County, Maryland Law, and the Maryland Constitution.

He is a Constitutional Officer.
The only person that can tell him what to do is the Judge. A judge can issue orders and writs that COMMAND the Sheriff to do certain things.

The judge cant fire the sheriff, he could find him in contempt.

but all of that is theoretical as Mike (or any other sheriff) would not challenge a judge.

I bet you that Doris will look out for the sheriff's office and do everything she can to help them. And I have never met the lady, I have met Mike many, many times. He is no fool, he will get along with her, they are both PROFESSIONALS.

I think that this is a conflict in interest at best. Doris chose to leave the Sheriff's Office without supporting the new Sheriff. Do you think this will change? Why would it? If that is the type of person she chooses to be, then she is that type of person. The county administrator and the county council needs to rethink this very strongly. The Sheriff's Office has been behind the times for a long time (in Doris' care) and now they have a chance to jump ahead with a new sheriff. This will keep the Sheriff's dept and the county behind the times once again. The sheriff's office is decades behind in technology and equipment. Don't believe me, look at some of the cars on the road, I saw a 1996 police car in front of the court house the other day,(and that just does not make sense). For that matter look inside, no cages, no computers, old looking toggle switches.
We need the future not the past to be in charge. Please rethink this county council.
What happened to the law enforcement support from the council president??
