Ladies & Gentlemen,
These are the Local Heros that were out day and night serving our community in search for an 82 year old Alzheimers Patient who disappeared last Saturday. Thank God the gentleman was in fact found alive and well and it would have been nice for the City Council to have recognized these fine Americans at tonights meeting but instead were all over their visitors from England. In closing, thank you! We need more Americans just like these Americans and I'm honored to share this wonderful and positive information because of all of you.

This is great news, and I gotta say, thanks t'these folks fer their service and t'you for sharin' it.
Them City folks say these blogs ain't positive, but here's more proof they're wrong.

I happened to be at the location in Quantico with my 4 wheeler after being notified by my brother Dan that the search was going on. I hadn't seen anything about it in the news anywhere. The people present were Flat Land Search and Rescue, Susquehanna Search and Rescue, Mid-Atlantic D.O.G.S. (k-9 teams), which were ALL VOLUNTEERS. DNR were present, as well as the Maryland State Police. MSP had thier Community Reponse Unit present as a command post, and Wicomico County 911 had thier Mobile Command Unit there as well. My brothers wife cooked spaghetti dinner for them all and they provided them with an RV to stay in so they wouldn't have to sleep in tents, which they were prepared to do. We were broken up into teams and a 3000 acre area was broken up into sections. Each team was tasked to different sections to conduct grid searches. The victim/patient was located in a wooded area next to a corn field off of Quantico Rd.in the area of Chucky's Way. He was missing for 2 days. He was dehydrated and had abbrasions to his face and arm. Poor guy thought he had been gone for about 1/2 an hour. He was located by a team consisting of Tessa the chocolate lab, and a member from Flat Land Search and Rescue. These volunteers came from Virginia and Western Maryland. They operate totally from donated funds and were a Godsend to this search and rescue effort. Without these volunteers this man would have been deceased. They ARE great Americans Joe, and thanks for taking the opportunity to recognize them. I even took my 14 year old son out of school for the day to assist in the search on a 4 wheeler because you won't meet this kind of American there every day. It was an educational experience he won't get in our schools. Come and get me, BOE! This is the kind of thing that makes you proud to be an American.

Kudos to the Coast Guard, too, for the super salvage of seven souls at sea. Gotta admit, I dang near cried seeing those families reunited, everybody safe and sound after 2 days.
These stories remind us o' why we're here on this planet. Thanks t'all o' you fer sharin' such good thoughts.

I'm so sorry I didn't get the information on the Search and Rescue teams.
I also failed to mention that Civil Air Patrol was also present conducting foot searches. And dude, those folks don't know the meaning of the work "tired". They walked continuously for hours and hours never taking breaks. They may have covered as many miles on foot as my Arctic Cat covered on her gators.
Talk about teamwork? The way everyone worked together was out - fffffffffffffriggin' - standing.
Every silver lining has a little cloud though........when one search and rescue team was trying to find Quantico, they stopped by the first police department they found, which happened to be Salisbury Police Department to get directions. I was told that when they went inside, no one knew anything about a missing person in Quantico. This was several hours after the initial report. Brother, what's up with that? But not even that can rain on the results of the efforts of those people.

I hear that 'bout the SPD all the time. I don't blame the rank and file. They got no leadership or organization there. Stinks. And I'm sure the guys and gals would like it t'be diff'rent.
