I spent last week at Angelo State University in remote central Texas as a panelist for the annual All-Volunteer Force (AVF) Forum. It was a strange forum in many ways, but nonetheless instructive. I was the youngest (and most progressive) member, as well as the lowest-ranking veteran among a group of leaders and speakers that included two retired generals, the chief of staff to former Secretary of State Colin Powell, a few former colonels and several academics. Despite having remarkably diverse life experiences and political opinions, all concluded that America’s all-volunteer military is not equitable, efficient or sustainable. The inconvenient truth each of the panel participants had the courage to identify is that the end of the draft in the U.S. had many unintended—and ultimately tragic—consequences for the republic.
The oft-praised U.S. military is, disturbingly, the most trusted public institution in the country. These days, active service members and veterans are regularly paraded before an otherwise apathetic citizenry at nearly every sporting event. Public figures and private citizens alike fawn over and obsessively thank the troops at every possible opportunity. It seems strange, however, that Americans are so hyperproud of their military, seeing as it neither reflects society nor achieves national objectives overseas.After all, the military only accounts for about 0.5 % of Americans and, as recent statistics indicate, the Army is falling well short of its recruiting goals. Not to mention that for all the vacuous pageantry and celebrations of a military that is increasingly divergent from civil society, few seem to ask an important question: When was the last time the AVF won a war?
The AVF is ultimately an unfair, ineffective and unsustainable organization charged with impossible, ill-advised missions by policymakers and a populace that actually care rather little for the nation’s soldiers. As the AVF nears its 50th anniversary, there’s no better time than now to assess the model’s flaws and its effect on American democracy.

On Saturday, April 6th, 2019 @ 2320 hrs, troopers from the Salisbury Barrack responded to Maryland Route 349 in the area of Wetipquin Road, Quantico, Wicomico County regarding a single vehicle collision. Upon arrival, contact was made with sole occupant / operator identified as David Allen Chandler of Hebron, MD.
Troopers detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage and
requested Mr. Chandler perform Standardized Field Sobriety. Mr. Chandler performed was subsequently placed under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Mr. Chandler was not injured in the collision and was released on traffic citations.

Councilman Eric Costello tweeted out a memo which called for Pugh to resign immediately. The memo stated, "The entire membership of the Baltimore City Council believes that it is not in the best interest of the City of Baltimore, for you to continue to serve as Mayor. We urge you to tender your resignation, effective immediately."
Below the message shows the signatures of all 14 City Council members.

Mayor Pugh Intends To Return To Work When Her Health Permits, Spokesperson Confirms
BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh remains on leave of absence and her spokesperson has confirmed that she intends to return to work when her health permits.

While there are many issues to be settled — changes to hate crime laws, alcohol licenses at racetracks and a new mental health prevention unit inside county schools are just some — the death of Maryland’s longest-serving speaker is expected to overshadow the day.

Maryland Secretary of State Flag Status -- Lowering of the Maryland State Flag
This is to advise that Governor Larry Hogan ordered the Maryland State Flag be lowered to half-staff effective immediately and returned to full-staff at sunset on the day of interment (not yet known). This action is in honor of Delegate Michael E. Busch, Speaker of the Maryland House of Delegates, who died Sunday, April 7, 2019. Speaker Busch represented Legislative District 30.

Maryland Speaker Michael Busch's condition worsens; he is using a ventilator
Michael Busch, the longest-serving speaker of the Maryland House of Delegates, is on a ventilator and his health has worsened, his office announced Sunday.
Busch, an Annapolis Democrat, has been in the hospital receiving treatment for pneumonia, his third major health scare since 2017. In 2017, he went through a liver transplant and in 2018, he had heart bypass surgery.
“Yesterday, doctors at University of Maryland Medical Center made the determination that Speaker Busch's breathing had taken a significant turn for the worse and the Speaker made the decision to use a ventilator to help his breathing,” said Alex Hughes, Busch’s chief of staff. “Unfortunately, his condition has worsened over the past few hours. His family asks for privacy at this time and to keep the Speaker in your thoughts and prayers.”

Was wondering if anyone else happened to come across Jake Day's social media circus and his latest water of city resources. He's been busy planning another community center on Newton Street for the influx of immigrants and addicts. He also spent Friday in "prayer" at the Muslim center on Jersey road with supposedly 200 of Salisbury's Muslim community. His purpose was to assure Muslims that we all support their views on today's political agendas. I guess before too long he'll have the "dipsh!t" Omar down as a guest speaker to give her two cents on her ideologies. It's hard to believe how far today's ( in Day's own words) "progressive socialist liberal leaders" will go to secure the funding to pursue their own personal agenda.
