“A modern day mass migration is taking place … that could change the face of Europe’s civilization,” warned Hungarian President Viktor Orban.
“If that happens, that is irreversible. … There is no way back from a multicultural Europe,” said Orban. “If we make a mistake now, it will be forever.”
Orban acted on his beliefs. He erected a 110-mile fence on the Serb border, redirecting hundreds of thousands of migrants away from Hungary to Croatia, thence to Austria and Germany.
Sunday, after a third of a million had passed through, Croatia replaced a center-left with a rightist party. A fortnight ago, the right-wing eurosceptic Law and Justice Party won a landslide victory in Poland.
Support for Angela Merkel, who has opened Germany to a million migrants, is plummeting. Bavaria’s CSU, sister party of Merkel’s CDU, is in rebellion. Bavaria has been the main port of entry for the hundreds of thousands of arriving migrants.
Europe is undergoing the greatest mass migration since World War II, when 14 million Germans were driven out of Prussia and eastern Germany and Central and Eastern Europe.
That mass migration halted after two years. But no end is in sight to the migrations from Africa and the Middle East.
As long as Europe’s borders remain open, they will come.

A black candidate for president learns the hard way that the media culture expects him to know a black man’s place, and stay there. That place has to be in the Democratic Party.
The moving finger writes, and having stuck that finger sharply in the eye of the black candidate, moves on, and neither the ample piety nor the stunted wit on the other end of that finger can retrieve a single line.
This is the lesson Ben Carson is learning in the weird race for the Republican nomination for president. This is his Herman Cain moment, reminiscent in a superficial but telling way of the black phenomenon of 2012.
Herman Cain, the godfather of pizza, left behind him a distinguished business career — rescuer of stumbling companies, president of the National Restaurant Association, vice president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City — when he caught the itch to run for president in 2012.
He led in the polls for several weeks, even besting President Obama in one match-up, until the media found a woman who said she had been having a 13-year affair with him. He had sexually harassed her, she said, though it was never clear why it took her 13 years to find out what had been going on between the sheets. Such a story of lust gone astray, even if true, would hardly rate a beep on the Clinton-O-Meter. Nevertheless, that was all the finger wrote for the godfather. He was making whoopee at the wrong party.

FBI Steps Up Inquiries in Clinton Email Probe
As Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton tries to put questions about her private email server to rest, Politico reports that the FBI has stepped up inquiries into the security of the former Secretary of State's server as well as the communication between aides.
"This sounds to me like it's more than a preliminary inquiry; it sounds like a full-blown investigation," said Tom Fuentes, former assistant director of the FBI. "When you have this amount of resources going into it …. I think it's at the investigative level."
Though the FBI has declined to comment on their examination, Politico reports that the agency has interviewed insignificant individuals who corresponded with Clinton in an attempt to determine the security of the sever.
According to former FBI and Justice officials, the agency is tasked with trying to prove two things: "whether the use of an outside email system posed any risks to national security secrets and if so, if anyone was responsible for exposing classified information."

Veterans drop hundreds of empty pill bottles in front of the White House
“Here’s what the over-medication of our veterans looks like,” they said as they spilled the canisters onto the floor. “We don’t want it.”
The veterans and protesters — affiliated with various veteran and marijuana advocacy organizations — argued that Veterans Affairs hospitals are over-medicating veterans, prescribing them a large number of psychoactive medications to treat PTSD. They marched from McPherson Square to the Department of Veterans Affairs headquarters, then to the White House, some smoking joints along the way, which is illegal in D.C.

Iowa City Council Votes To Remove Memorial, City Votes To Remove The Council
It all started when Americans United for Separation of Church and State demanded that the city council take down a veteran’s monument in Young’s Park within the city. The monument featured a soldier bowing before a white cross, but the Americans United found this an offensive violation of the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment and threatened to sue.
The council voted to remove the memorial Nov. 2. Voters poured in the very next day to vote them out Nov. 3 in regular elections.
The city said it did not place the monument but that an unknown person put it there. The monument became a point of contention in the town, with many conservatives resenting the demands from the anti-religion group.
Seeking to defend the monument, they warned their council that if they voted to remove it, they’d pay the price.

After taxes and entitlement program benefits are accounted for, a single parent with a salary of $4,800 ends up with nearly the same take-home pay as a single parent with a $21,000 salary, according to a report from the Tax Foundation.
The report, titled “Income Tax Illustrated,” evaluates two examples of a single-parent family with one child.
In one example, a single parent earns $4,800 in annual salary before taxes, but after accounting for entitlements, this family’s take-home climbs to $22,090. Benefits included in this calculation comes from Medicaid, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, the Children’s Health Insurance Program, food stamps, and the Housing Choice Voucher program.
In another example, a single parent who earns $21,000 before taxes receives $24,057 in take-home earnings. Even though this family got $16,200 more than the previous example, they only see an additional $1,967 more in take-home income than a family that earns far less.

The freshman class at the University of Missouri must be the most racist, sexist and homophobic student body in America. After all, it was just last year that Mizzou was lauded by the Leftmedia for its tolerance and inclusion after rallying around Michael Sam, the star football player who had recently announced his homosexuality to the world.
Since the faculty is largely unchanged, the only conclusion we can draw from the recent resignation of university president Tim Wolfe is that he recruited a bunch of racist students over the last year and now must be punished for his sins. How else does one explain Mizzou going from the gold standard of tolerance and diversity to a hotbed of racism, sexism and homophobia in just a single year?
The impetus for the unfolding scandal was the hunger strike of Jonathan Butler, a black graduate student, which would not end, he declared, until “either Tim Wolfe is removed from office or my internal organs fail and my life is lost.” Butler claimed the university had consistently failed to address incidents of intolerant behavior.
The primary complaint stems from an incident last month in which a white student jumped on a stage where black students were rehearsing a skit and allegedly shouted racial slurs. The evidence for Wolfe’s indifference apparently comes from the fact that Wolfe, riding in his car during the homecoming parade a few days later, did not step out of the vehicle and prostrate himself before a mob of angry black protesters.
Butler’s demands received little attention until he was joined in solidarity by some members of the Missouri football team, who declared their refusal to play another game until Butler’s demands were met and Wolfe resigned.
Not only did they demand that Wolfe resign, but in doing so he had to issue a hand-written apology in which he declared his “white privilege.” Sadly, the student bullies won, and Wolfe resigned.

Catholic Schools on Verge of ‘Renaissance’
Inner-city Catholic schools are entering a period of improved performance and growth, according to a new report produced by the Philanthropy Roundtable.
The group’s report outlines the way in which Catholic schools, with the help of donors, are amending their governance structure to offer parents an alternative to government-funded public schools.
The report, entitled “Catholic School Renaissance,” chronicles the changes that have been made to Catholic schools across the country.
“New approaches to organizing, governing, funding, and staffing these schools are showing that this sector can be financially sustainable, in addition to producing terrific student outcomes. Donors of all faiths, and even no faith, are participating—recognizing the valuable things that Catholic schools do for the nation, in particular by educating inner-city children who have been failed by many other sectors,” the report said.
The director of the K-12 program at the Philanthropy Roundtable, an organization that connects donors to educational and other types of projects, said that donors are interested in supporting Catholic schools because of the beliefs and interest in the development of character that these institutions market.
“The teaching of the faith and how that is integrated and woven through [the curriculum] is really the secret sauce,” Anthony Pienta, who played an integral role in producing the report, said.

Berlin Eyes $3M In Bond Market To Buy Tyson Property; Potential Uses Being Evaluated By Consulting Firm
The Berlin Town Council voted 4-0 this week to issue and sell general obligation bonds in the amount of $3 million. The move is expected to provide the town with $2.5 million to purchase the property and $500,000 to start work on the site. Though a formal plan for the property has yet to be decided upon, a variety of public uses — including a skateboard park and swimming pool — are being considered.
“This is a property we’re taking from the outhouse to the penthouse in terms of its value to the community,” Mayor Gee Williams said.
By entering the bond market now, town officials are expecting to go to settlement on the property, which is currently owned by Berlin Properties North, in February.

World championship belts stolen in Boxing Hall of Fame burglary
At least one suspect entered the museum at 2.45am on Thursday morning and broke three display cases containing the title belts, Canastota chief of police James Zophy told the Guardian.
Four of the belts had belonged to Carmen Basilio, a native of the tiny New York hamlet who captured world titles at welterweight and middleweight during the 1950s, including a famous 1957 win over Sugar Ray Robinson that earned him Ring magazine Fighter of the Year honors.

Foster: Green's top 3 finish disqualified for headband with Bible verse deemed logo
On Saturday, West Forsyth’s John Green was the third runner out of 226 to cross the finish line in the Class AAAAAA state championship race at Carrollton High School. Soon after collapsing from his effort and offering, as well as receiving, high fives from opponents as they walked by the cool-down tent, Green found out he placed 226th out of 226.
The Georgia High School Association’s inconsistent enforcement of a vague, incorrigible rule is to blame for stripping Green from his greatest race in his senior season.
Green was disqualified by GHSA officials for sporting a white, plain head band with “Isaiah 40:30-31” written across the front—the same head band the Forsyth County News has photo evidence of him wearing when he was not disqualified in last year’s state meet.
According to West head coach Clayton Tillery and others involved in the West program, two GHSA officials cleared Green’s headband before the race. Then, a third man who was not in an official uniform or credentialed made a comment about the headband at the starting line and walked away.
When I approached GHSA officials on Saturday to discuss the ruling I was told “it was a uniform violation,” but when I asked to see in a GHSA handbook where the rule is I was shooed away.
The GHSA links its cross country handbook, a seven-page document, to its website. There are two pages that discuss uniform protocol. Page 4, titled State Meet Cold Weather Reminders, permits “beanies, toboggans, ear covers” of a single color, as long as they only have “one logo” visible. There is no mention of headbands.
