Cop Charged With Using Illegal Traffic Stops to Pick Up Women

A New Jersey state trooper allegedly threatened two women with fines and jail time unless they turned over their phone numbers.

For most people, the words "speed dating" refer to a matchmaking event where singles sit down with a large number of potential mates in rapid succession. For New Jersey State Trooper Eric Richardson, it reportedly involved threatening female motorists with tickets and arrest until they agree to go out with him.

On multiple occasions, the 32-year-old officer pulled over women for traffic violations, according to an indictment filed Thursday. The lovestruck lawman allegedly threatened the women with jail time and fines unless they handed over their phone numbers. Richardson then reportedly badgered the women over text in an attempt to start "an intimate relationship."

Richardson has now been hit with six charges stemming from these stops, including official misconduct, criminal coercion, and falsifying or tampering with records. If convicted, Richardson could face up to 33 years in prison and $350,000 in fines.

Clinton on Losing 2016 Election: 'They Were Never Going to Let Me Be President'

"They were never going to let me be president." That's what two-time failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton told her campaign manager, Robby Mook, on election night in November 2016 after he broke the news that she could not win, according to a new book.

The Daily Beast obtained a copy of New York Times reporter Amy Chozick's new book—Chasing Hillary: Ten Years, Two Presidential Campaigns, and One Intact Glass Ceiling, which will be released on Tuesday—and highlighted key excerpts from it, including one about election night in 2016. Chozick describes how Clinton's campaign team was distraught when they realized they were not going to win.

"Of all the Brooklyn aides, Jen Palmieri had the most pleasant bedside manner," Chozick writes.

This made Palmieri, Clinton's communications director, the designated "deliverer of bad news" to Clinton. But she told Mook there was no way she could be the person to tell Clinton that she could not win the election. So Mook, who was "drained and deflated," went down the hall to Clinton's suite to deliver the bad news.

Trump hides good things from view

The Trump presidency can be exhausting. What with tweets, unsavory lawyers, and porn models and actresses, not to mention allegations from the #Resistance, it can be hard to see that the administration is actually getting a lot done.

Beneath the surface, obscured by the glaring neon of the president’s exchanges with news media and with other forces determined to degrade our political culture further, is a steady record of conservative accomplishments. These are boosting the economy and paring government back a little closer to its proper size. They are also giving heartburn to anyone on the Left capable of peeling their eyes away from fantasies about a Trumpian conspiracy with Russia.

The headline achievements are still the appointment of a conservative justice to the Supreme Court and the passage of a tax reform bill that is plowing corporate money into investment that previously went to tax avoidance. But Trump is also wrestling trade concessions from China with protectionist rhetoric that we, we admit, opposed, and prizing open that vast market to an unprecedented extent for American automakers.

Georgetown students defend Second Amendment, call on university to arm police officers

In response to the ongoing debate about the safety of gun-free college campuses, students at one private university have called on their school’s administration to take necessary action to ensure both students and campus police have access to firearms as a method of self-defense.

Students at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., are calling for campus administrators to fully arm the on-campus police force, in addition to allowing students the choice to carry guns for self-defense while on campus.

Currently, university regulations restrict the ability of the police to guarantee a safe environment on campus, as police officers are not given guns to carry. According to the Georgetown University Police Department, “All GUPD officers are unarmed. … Officers carry safety batons and pepper spray and are provided with a protective vest.”

Prejudice: James Comey Admits FBI Didn’t Believe Hillary Could Be Prosecuted When it Launched Email Probe

Former FBI Director James Comey conceded in his recently released memoir that when the FBI launched its investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server the agency did not believe career prosecutors at the Justice Department would move on the case.

In the controversial book, titled A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies, and Leadership, Comey claims that the FBI was not “going to prejudge the result.” Yet, he immediately admits that they did just that.

Comey writes:

So although we were not going to prejudge the result, we started the Clinton investigation aware that it was unlikely to be a case that the career prosecutors at the Department of Justice would prosecute. That might change, of course, if we could find a smoking-gun email where someone in government told Secretary Clinton not to do what she was doing, or if we could prove she obstructed justice, or if she, like Petraeus, lied to us during an interview.

Comey’s justification for pre-judging the Clinton email case was to compare her to General David Petraeus, who pleaded guilty to one charge of mishandling classified information after he was accused of providing classified material to his official biographer while he served as CIA director.

Confident Pelosi: Dems Ready to Push Amnesty, Gun Control ‘When We Win’ in Nov

A confident House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) predicted on Tuesday that Democrats will take back the House and immediately push for amnesty for so-called Dreamers and more gun-control legislation.

“When we win and we take over in January, some of the issues that will come up soon are some of the issues that we are asking the Speaker to do right now,” she said at a Georgetown University event.

Pelosi then said Democrats are set to push “gun-violence legislation and background-checks legislation” in addition to “legislation on the Dreamers.”

Democrats Slapped With Demand To Preserve Evidence As Roger Stone Goes After DNC Servers

The gloves are off in the multimillion-dollar lawsuit filed by the Democratic National Committee (DNC) against the Trump campaign, Wikileaks and several other parties including the Russian government, alleging an illegal conspiracy to disrupt the 2016 election in a "brazen attack on American Democracy."

Many have suggested the lawsuit is a tactical error by the DNC, as it may expose or confirm claims against the organization - such as whether they rigged the primary against Bernie Sanders, the level of coordination between the DNC and the Clinton Campaign, and the details surrounding the funding of the "Steele dossier," paid for in part by both the Clinton campaign and the DNC.

The defendants - from President Trump, to Wikileaks - and now Roger Stone - are excited at the prospect of examining the DNC servers which cybersecurity firm Crowdstrike determined were victims of Russian hacking in advance of the 2016 elections. Notably, the DNC would not allow the FBI or anyone else to inspect said servers.

DHS Sec. Vows Illegal ‘Caravan’ Members Will Be Prosecuted, Asylum-Seekers Held Until Adjudicated

President Donald Trump has ordered the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to prevent the illegal alien caravans from entering the U.S., and DHS Sec. Kirstein Nielsen released a warning to illegal border-crossers.

In a Monday morning Tweet, Trump announced his instructions to the DHS:

“Despite the Democrat inspired laws on Sanctuary Cities and the Border being so bad and one sided, I have instructed the Secretary of Homeland Security not to let these large Caravans of people into our Country. It is a disgrace. We are the only Country in the World so naive! WALL”

Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen M. Nielsen then issued a statement promising to stop, arrest and prosecute members of the illegal alien caravan from Central America:

“DHS continues to monitor the remnants of the ‘caravan’ of individuals headed to our Southern border with the apparent intention of entering the United States illegally. A sovereign nation that cannot – or worse, chooses not – to defend its borders will soon cease to be a sovereign nation. The Trump Administration is committed to enforcing our immigration laws – whether persons are part of this ‘caravan’ or not.”

Nielsen also warned illegal aliens who plan to claim “asylum” when caught that they won’t be released into the U.S. pending their court date. Instead, they’ll be held in detention until it’s determined whether or not they’re legitimate asylum-seekers:

U.S. Admiral Outlines New Military Buildup to Counter China

The American admiral slated to head the US Pacific Command is planning a buildup of American forces in the region along with closer alliances as part of the Pentagon’s new strategy to counter China.

Admiral Philip Davidson, the nominee for the command job, revealed in little-noticed testimony to a US Senate committee how he will restructure the 375,000 military and civilian personnel, 200 ships and nearly 1,100 aircraft in the region.

If confirmed for the position, a prospect likely in the coming weeks, Davidson said he would “recalibrate” the command in line with the Pentagon’s new national defense strategy.

“This effort entails ensuring the continued combat readiness of assigned forces in the western Pacific; developing an updated footprint that accounts for China’s rapid modernization and pursuing agreements with host nations that allow the United States to project power when necessary,” Davidson stated in written answers to questions posed by the panel.

"Very Pissed Off" Obama DOJ Made "Dramatic" Call To McCabe To Quash Clinton Probe

As the FBI's investigation into the Clinton Foundation pressed on during the 2016 election, a senior official with the Obama justice department, identified as Matthew Axelrod, called former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe - who thought the DOJ was pressuring him to shut down the investigation, according to the recently released inspector general's (OIG) report.

The official was “very pissed off” at the FBI, the report says, and demanded to know why the FBI was still pursuing the Clinton Foundation when the Justice Department considered the case dormant. -Washington Times

The OIG issued a criminal referral for McCabe based on findings that the former Deputy Director "made an unauthorized disclosure to the news media and lacked candor - including under oath - on multiple occasions."

McCabe authorized a self-serving leak to the New York Times claiming that the FBI had not put the brakes on the Clinton Foundation investigation, during a period in which he was coming under fire over a $467,500 campaign donation his wife Jill took from Clinton pal Terry McAuliffe.

“It is bizarre — and that word can’t be used enough — to have the Justice Department call the FBI’s deputy director and try to influence the outcome of an active corruption investigation,” said James Wedick - a former FBI official who conducted corruption investigations at the bureau. “They can have some input, but they shouldn’t be operationally in control like it appears they were from this call.”

Bluffing at the Border

The first 50 of as many as 1,500 refugees from a notorious caravan making its way through Mexico toward the United States have reached the border. According to some reports, they are claiming asylum. In a sense, they are all but saying they believe President Donald Trump’s tough talk about illegal immigration and securing the border was just talk — and they are calling what they see as a bluff.

Mexico, with its officials standing aside, also seems to think the same thing. President Trump responded by declaring that he might include demands on immigration and border security in the renegotiation of the North American Free Trade Agreement. Specifically, Mexico may be forced to act against migrants passing through that country to the United States to keep NAFTA. This is leverage — the Art of the Deal as applied to NAFTA.

Parents rally against public school sex-ed over pro-choice, gay rights ideas

“Mom, you won’t believe what my teacher’s talking about right now.”

That is the text message Regina Young, a parent in North Carolina’s Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, said she received from her seventh-grade daughter one day.

“Before I could even respond to her text,” Ms. Young said, “she told me how uncomfortable she was to hear her teacher tell stories about her transgender home.”

Ms. Young was just one parent who participated Monday in the Sex Ed Sit Out, an international demonstration to protest what rally organizers say is a campaign by pro-choice and gay rights organizations to force their ideologies on children through public education.

The movement began among parents in Charlotte, North Carolina, but spread to 16 cities in four countries in the months leading up to the event. According to the Sit Out’s website, rallies were also held in Calgary, Alberta; Mulgrave, Australia; Bloomington, Indiana; and London.

For the Sit Out, parents were asked to pull their children out of school for the day, accompanied by a note to the principal explaining the absence as a protest against “pornographic” sex education.

It’s the latest culture war to be fought on the grounds of America’s public schools, closely following national walkouts against guns and abortion.

Teens Fear Shooting at Their School Despite Rarity

A new poll released on Wednesday found a majority of American teens were worried about a potential shooting taking place in their school despite how rare school shootings are in the United States.

Fifty-seven percent of those aged 13 to 17 told the Pew Research Center they worried about the possibility of a shooting occurring at the school they attend. Thirty-two percent said they were somewhat worried while another 25 percent said they were very worried about a shooting.

The poll, conducted among 743 teens between March 7 and April 10, comes in the wake of the high-profile school shooting in Parkland, Fla., which left 17 dead and garnered several weeks of nationwide media attention. Some survivors of the shooting have become the face of a new gun-control group called the March for Our Lives, which held marches last month that also garnered a great deal of national media coverage.

The poll also comes after researchers at Northeastern University announced their finding that school shootings are rare events in the United States and are happening at a less frequent rate than in the 1990s.

Neill Franklin: Don’t let Maryland return to a failed crime strategy

Neill Franklin spent 23 years with the Maryland State Police and 11 with the Baltimore Police Department, where he was commander of the education and training division and the bureau of drug and criminal enforcement.

In its closing weeks, the Maryland legislature tried to rush through a truly harmful crime bill. Known as the Hogan-Zirkin crime package, it included regressive policies that represent a failed approach to public safety by relying on long sentences. That may sound appealing, but long sentences don’t make communities safer.

The Comprehensive Crime Bill of 2018, introduced by state Sen. Robert A. Zirkin (D-Baltimore County), passed the Senate quickly this past legislative session, but, thankfully, it stalled in the House.

It should not be reintroduced next year.

Violent April breaks brief peace in Baltimore, with 29 killings in past three weeks

For a while, there was reason to hope.

Twelve days without a killing in February. Declining street violence in March. Optimism around a new police commissioner. After a three-year spike in violent crime, a long and bloody siege that brought Baltimore international attention, the city seemed finally to be heading toward peace.

Then came April. Someone executed a mother and daughter inside their house. Stray gunfire killed a 65-year-old woman on her porch. A wanton shooter wounded a 69-year-old man outside his home.

Baltimore police counted 17 killings last month, but 29 within the past three weeks. For Baltimoreans and for the officials charged with keeping them safe, a familiar dread is returning.

The Best Government Survey on Guns You've Never Heard Of

A survey by the Centers for Disease Control on defensive gun use (DGU) in the United States that shows DGU happening more regularly than gun crimes has never been publicized.

Gary Kleck, a Florida State criminologist, conducted his own study of DGU and his results mirror those of the CDC.

The Daily Caller:

The CDC’s data, collected a few years after Kleck’s survey, appears to corroborate his findings, Reason.com reported. The question asked in the CDC survey addressed the use or threatened use of a firearm to deter a crime. “During the last 12 months, have you confronted another person with a firearm, even if you did not fire it, to protect yourself, your property, or someone else?”

Kleck, upon reviewing the CDC’s data, noted just how close it came to mirroring his own.

The final adjusted prevalence of 1.24% therefore implies that in an average year during 1996–1998, 2.46 million U.S. adults used a gun for self-defense. This estimate, based on an enormous sample of 12,870 cases (unweighted) in a nationally representative sample, strongly confirms the 2.5 million past-12-months estimate obtained Kleck and Gertz (1995)….CDC’s results, then, imply that guns were used defensively by victims about 3.6 times as often as they were used offensively by criminals.

Many gun control advocates have complained about the fact that the CDC is limited with regard to research on gun violence. A 1996 amendment to a spending bill bars the organization from using congressionally allocated funds to “advocate or promote gun control.”

What those fighting for stronger gun-control generally leave out is the fact that the CDC is not barred from doing any research on gun violence — and the research it has done in the last two decades has largely corroborated Kleck’s findings.

The Obama administration tried several times to get the CDC to treat gun violence as a disease. This approach would have justified extraordinary gun control measures. Republicans in Congress refused to consider the approach and the CDC itself resisted the notion.

Sharpton, who also led the National Action Network’s convention over the weekend, gave high marks to Sen. Kamala Harris’ (D-CA) showing at the event and explained the importance of the black vote for the possible presidential candidates.

“It is not a Sharpton Primary, but that is what the media calls it — it’s the National Action Network’s convention,” he explained. “They have to have the black vote. We are one of the organizations, as is the NAACP and Urban League. But we convene first because we convene in April — we try to do it in the month Dr. King was killed because we’re a King-based group. And, they can’t win without the black vote. I felt a real passion from Kamala Harris about fighting for real issues like criminal justice, as well as the economy and other things.”

Hogan signs bills to protect domestic animals

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Dogs hounded the governor Tuesday as all types of furry friends gathered near Lawyers Mall in a show of appreciation for his signing legislation designed to protect them.

It took years to get bills passed to protect domestic animals. On Tuesday, the governor signed as many as four bills designed to protect pets. One law prohibits pet stores from selling animals that come from puppy mills. The bill gives pet stores 1 1/2 years to comply.

"Sadly, those stores that still sell puppies and kittens are keeping the puppy mill industry alive, and the puppy mill industry is grotesque and barbaric," said Delegate Benjamin Kramer, D-Montgomery County.

The SPCA, the Maryland Humane Society and shelters, including the Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter, are taking care of dogs that were used in laboratory experiments.

"Ninety-six percent of the dogs that are used are beagles because they are small and trusting, but also it makes them very good house dogs and family dogs," said Sen. Michael Hough, R-Frederick and Carroll counties.

The governor also signed a bill that prohibits people convicted of a crime against an animal from having a pet.

James Comey getting crushed by 'weasel moves' he once denounced

James Comey, the ex-FBI director who claims to have boasted to President Trump that he didn't do "weasel moves" like leaking information, is in jeopardy, and leaks are to blame.

During the first week of his book tour to promote A Higher Loyalty, Comey has come under fire for leaking memos to a friend that recounted conversations he had with Trump in 2017 before he was fired in May.

The memos he wrote — seven in total — have attracted scrutiny from the Justice Department’s inspector general who, less than 24 hours after the release of the memos, launched an investigation into whether the former FBI director leaked classified information when he shared several of the memos to a friend not affiliated with government.

Locally during the last initiative in October 2017, troopers collected over 2,500 pounds of prescription drugs. Nationally, 912,305 pounds (456 tons) of prescription medications were collected from members of the public. When added to the collections from the previous Take-Back events, more than 9 million pounds of prescription medications have been removed from circulation.

After weeks of pressure from European countries, senior Trump administration officials handling the talks are said to have conceded to a demand that Iran only restrict ballistic missile activity to its longer range missiles, leaving untouched its mammoth arsenal of short-range and medium-range missiles that could easily hit Israel and other Middle Eastern nations.

The concession, which comes after months of wrangling over the future of the nuclear deal ahead of a May deadline, has roiled congressional officials and administration insiders who have been pressuring the White House to stand firm against these European demands.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R., Texas), a vocal opponent of the nuclear deal who has been advocating in favor of tough new restrictions on Iran, told the Free Beacon that the fixes proposed by the Europeans and supposedly endorsed by the Trump administration do not go nearly far enough in addressing Iran's contested missile program.

The former Starbucks manager who called the police on two non-paying black customers earlier this month may have a good case for bringing a defamation suit against the coffee company.

In numerous public statements, Starbucks and its CEO Kevin Johnson have gone out of their way to imply that the female manager, identified in media reports as Holly Hylton, was acting on subconscious racial motivations when she told the loitering customers to either buy a beverage or get out of her store. Crucially, Starbucks has also strongly implied that, as a factual matter, the manager violated company policy.

Defamation law varies by state, but the gist is simple: Negligently saying, or implying, something that is provably false about a private person constitutes actionable defamation, as long as the statement harms the victim’s reputation.

DeSantis: IG Probe Of Comey ‘Probably Just The Beginning’

The Department of Justice’s probe of former FBI Director James Comey is “probably just the beginning” of more problems for Comey, Republican Florida Rep. Ron DeSantis said Friday.

At least two memos that Comey leaked to a friend outside the government contained classified information, The Wall Street Journal reported Friday. The DOJ’s inspector general is now investigating Comey’s release of the memos, the Journal reported.

The memos contained Comey’s account of several interactions he had with President Donald Trump while serving as FBI director. Comey leaked the memos’ contents to the media through a friend in order to spur the appointment of a special counsel to oversee the Russia investigation, Comey testified on June 8.

“Referral of Comey due to transmitting classified info was justified and this IG action is probably just the beginning,” DeSantis wrote on Twitter following Friday’s news of the DOJ probe into Comey.

Leading Surgeon Says Violence in Khan's London 'Like South Africa', Predicts 'Summer of Carnage'

London’s crime wave will develop into “carnage” come summer, a leading trauma surgeon has predicted, warning ultra-violence in the capital is “the new normal”.

Dr Martin Griffiths, a consultant surgeon at Barts Health NHS Trust, said soaring knife and gun crime has resulted in London “looking more like South Africa, or inner-city U.S.” with regards to the rate of attacks.

“If it was hot weather right now, it would be carnage. When it gets a few degrees warmer, it’s going to be taxing. It’s going to be difficult,” he told The Times.

The doctor, who earlier this month revealed some of his military colleagues have likened the situation seen in London trauma wards to hospitals in Middle East warzones, said that treating young teenagers with life-threatening injuries had become “the bread and butter” of his work at the Royal London Hospital.

"We're supposed to find the height of this flagpole," said Sven, "but we don't have a ladder."
