Had it shut down trying to stop H20i cars from leaving until restaurant owners fleeced them of their cash!! Had infrared thermometers out checking inbound for COVID-19!! blm baby thugs were mad all those rice burners coming to their City....ha ha ha
We needed the national guard here. Our police have worked tirelessly and given everything They have to protect our town but these losers have destroyed everything in their path. They are communicating where to go and when to move and at this point if you check Snapchat maps And view the public stories , it looks like riots All throughout town, I can’t imagine the Damage that is being done. This can not happen again. But I’m afraid it will. They are looking at this chaos as a victory. To quote the organizers Instagram, “some will fall so others can send it“ so it’s a badge of honor to get busted so the rest can continue to disrupt and destroy. I feel so bad for families and business that are stuck in the middle of this disaster. They are ripping street signs out of the ground, setting off huge fireworks and throwing bottles, fighting and attacking the police and they are very very proud of themselves.
Is there a way to actually welcome them? Could maybe the Delmar race track or somewhere help host it? I feel like you will always have bad apples no matter what, But some of this is because they are being told they are not wanted. Is there a way to help sponcer them, and have activities already set up to try and keep some control. I have no clue how to fix it, but it is obvious telling them not to come and they are not wanted isn't working. I actually enjoy the cars and think we could work toward a better received group of people. Those people posting online that run the show need to be made friends with OC. They are the ones who could help make it more friendly.
Agreed 12:21 - even with all of the new provisions, and more police than I have ever seen in OC, they were completely outnumbered. I would not be at all surprised to see a city wide curfew put into place and backed up by the guard.
The majority of the trouble makers weren't the drivers and cars, it was the thousands that came to stand around, cause trouble, take pics, and act like they were cool. I was stuck in the traffic on Coastal Hwy for about an hour, mid town, the drivers were courteous to this older woman, weren't speeding, cops were everywhere, but the people on the sidewalks were the jackasses.
Next year: 1. Triple the fines and towing charges. 2. Just like is done during a hurricane, declare an emergency situation in town. (It most certainly qualifies as an emergency.) 3. Only allow residents; employees; people with legitimate business in town. Hotels shut down for the weekend. Draconian measures, for sure. BUT... OC is using measures that were old back in the sixties to try and control this group. They need to move it up to 2020. One more thought: The use of the "Skunk Spray" was VERY effective. Kinda funny, too! I guarantee you though, nobody that got near it was laughing.
As a resident, I think the LEOs had everything in hand until late Friday night and again Saturday night. I think that by both nights the frustration of massive fines and a heavy police presence boiled over resulting in the insane mess Saturday night. I think a curfew being put into effect at say, 7 pm during this event would go a long way towards a more peaceful evening. She me have said the national guard should have been called out, and maybe they are right - the town got trashed Saturday night and this was absolutely nothing related to cars or some mythic car culture crap. This was a riot, lain and simple
So easy to see eye to eye. This could of been avoided. Should of welcomed the h20 and enforced positive communication. Were all Americans. I myself hope communication can be fixed, before governments enemies fix it for us.
Rickie...epic FAILURE. I'm sorry...u all kicked around now to get folks into town for SUNLITE. Wasn't going to work....yet many tens of thousands were in town this weekend (in hotels....nice working with ur hotels putz)...there wasn't any way to tap into that crowd to make money? HELLO ass...the coffee shop play 94th street figured out to embrace the suck AND turn LEOs away from that private parking lot so they could make money.
Isn't that your job Rickie? Yes it is. You were voted to find ways to make our town $$$$$ not cause ciaos. Yes, u and City Fail failed to find a way to work with H2Oi....because of your old mindset. I'm old too, but remain in business mode to make a negative into a positive no matter the circumstances. No reason to keep digging the hole deeper when there is a way out thru compromise. Damage is done now...hatred is rampant. Their fire got additional fuel for next year. What's next? Closing town? Asking for the Gov for National Guard? U want our town on national TV showing how u can't handle shit? No. DC and Baltimore stations again covered this tiny time issue.
Nov is around the corner and we continue to laugh at you. Hell Leighton closed his bar early Sat. Enjoy retirement....this will now be home n someone else's watch....keep your tight underarmour black tees.
Unbelievable what you have NOT accomplished and in your words...a family friendly town.
Not today race baiter. That s yours acting a whole fool. Tearing up and destroying. How do we know this? Only a Caucasian can live to be arrested after knocking a cop unconscious.
Wish it would shut down permanently! That place gets worse every year. There are so many nice places to go, I don't understand people wanting to go down there and pay their rediculous prices for everything , like all the junk from China, and horrible prices for food and lodging. It is anything but a family vacation spot.
If today was any sample, the secret to controlling they mayhem is to shut down all the local gas stations in OC. Think for a minute. Advertise to everyone that stations are closed from Wednesday thru Sunday. Residents are given the opportunity to gas up before the closures and the nuts that come to town won't be able to get enough fuel to keep them driving back and forth for those 5 days.
I wonder if maybe giving the fueling stations money not to open might not offset the disruptions. For one, issue a summons to anyone that brakes down due to no fuel to offset the loses from businesses. Once the means to enable a million cars on 10 miles of OC goes away, they WILL stop coming.
The one major problem with your idea is the fact that hundreds of participants will see the profit capability in packing many cans of gas in their cars for the trip down here. There would be more profit selling gas than selling weed during the five days. Plus, the more industrious would find a way to haul large amounts into town. One tragic accident, it all blows up, game over. Nice idea, but it would never work.
To all of you that b*tch and complain about how the town handled the situation, how about this:
Obviously you are all experts on the situation, so please give your thoughts on exactly how you would control it.
If you don't have an answer - or even a suggestion - then you can just remain quiet.
And for all of you that think that the city "should be nicer" to this group, you folks are completely out of your mind. This is 2020. This is social media. There is absolutely NO WAY to reason with the mob. They are here to have fun, and to them fun is turning the town upside down, which they did.
I wonder how Myrtle Beach handled - a got rid of - the Black Fraternity weekend that turned into riots every year a few years back. What did they do to stop it? I do remember that most all businesses closed for the duration.
Face it, the problem now isn't cars at all. LE took very good care of that. Only complete idiots acted the fool, and many of them paid a lot of money for it. The real problem are the pedestrians. The crowds. The spectators. Next year, control the sidewalks and you'll control the crowd.
8:07 - a curfew worked well during the Baltimore riots, and in terms of scope and scale, it was much larger and more complex than a 10 mile island. It’s called forced compliance, and it does indeed work.

Acciden.... fire equipment on Baltimore..... not too far from Bridge
some cars are being allowed up Baltimore
They are diverting traffic.
If you head to the inlet they are forcing you over the bridge and you have to return.
I also hear they are forcing them on to 90 and they have to drive all the way out and return
There have been hundreds of arrests and 100+'s impounded
There was a line to pay and pick up at the impound.
Glad they are ruining it for them. They deserve it
They bum rushed a cop last night, which did not turn out well for the a$$hole perp.
Shut it down.
The Lincoln Project was holding a Biden rally.

BLM protest on the Bridge.
Shut it down never let them come back. OC doesnt want you ever any weekend.
There was a line of people trying to buy MAGA hats from a vender.
bye-done rallies usually garner a hand full of people. Now President Trump's rallies, well that's another story...
Quiet today ! We won ! They probably won’t be back next year
That was a good one.....grow up idiot ray

Didn’t that police chief Buzzuro say last year, “We can’t allow this to happen again?” Well guess what...YOU did!!!! Time for you to go

oh for pete sake pony soilders
under my Presidency, we will have horses and electric vehicles
Where were you then?
Unfortunately there is Already talk on social media from the H20i groups about them coming back in 2 weeks during cruise in.
So the people who don't follow the rules, who are mad at the cops and oc town for "not wanting" them here will follow a curfew? That's a joke.
Kill social media and problem solved
