Gov. Larry Hogan said Wednesday it would be a "mistake" for the U.S. Senate to push to confirm a Supreme Court justice before the November election.
Trump urged the Republican-run Senate to consider "without delay" his upcoming nomination to fill the Supreme Court vacancy just six weeks before the election.
But Hogan weighed in on the issue, speaking at the Texas Tribune Festival, saying: "We should not be playing partisan games with the Supreme Court. It would be a mistake for the Senate to ram through a nominee on a partisan line vote, just as it would be a tragic mistake to question the integrity of the court or even pack the court."
On Tuesday, U.S. Sen. Chris Van Hollen, D-Maryland, called Trumps move a power grab "to try and stack the court with right wing justices. We will use every procedural opportunity to block this abuse of power."

McConnel stated that a Supreme Court seat should not be filled during an election year in 2016. Trump himself also said that Obama should be fired if he appoints a Supreme Court seat in that year. GOP is the party of "do as we say not as we do". And their followers look away from tyranny and oppression as long as it favors their side.

RBG was hired as an Associate Justice and tried to game the system to enable someone with her rewrite the Constitution views to be appointed to replace her. She gambled and lost. Even if this were not an election year presidents move promptly to fill Supreme Court vacancies. The Court's new business year begins in a few weeks and a full bench is critical to proper adjudication of the cases accepted for review. The rules of the game are that tie votes revert to the decision of the Appeals Court that last ruled on them. So a vacancy has the real prospect of wasting the best part of the SCOTUS year. Approval of a replacement before the election isn't controversial when viewed in this light.

Since that time the Democrats have pushed to have the courts think of the constitution as a living document. They have attacked the bill of right.
