Rep. Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced the award of a $125,000 grant to Maryland Capital Enterprises, a private nonprofit organization located in Salisbury. The organization is dedicated to helping small businesses succeed by offering counseling, business development consulting, and assistance in acquiring financing. Grant funding came from the Department of the Treasury’s Community Development Financial Institutions Program, which allocates financial awards to Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) who in turn provide access to capital investments for small businesses and other critical community development projects, often in economically underserved communities. The grant awarded to Maryland Capital Investments is a Technical Assistance award, which are used for capacity development that is integral to CDFIs’ organizational sustainability and success. CDFIs often use these awards to purchase equipment, hire consulting or contracting services, pay salaries and benefits, or train staff or board members.
Congressman Harris made the following statement:
“I am proud to support our small businesses across the Eastern Shore. The timing of this grant is great news, especially during National Small Business Week and in light of the pandemic, which has put countless businesses across our nation in jeopardy. These funds will allow Maryland Capital Enterprises to continue to serve small business employers and their employees on the Lower Shore, boosting our regional economy and creating good paying jobs.”

How about we grant the money to the people who made it. Business struggles are from taxes that are to high.
Damn that's some fancy talk and a lot of explaining about something that looks illegitimate to me. Sure looks like money is going into the pockets of a few "private nonprofit" smooth talking individuals. Come on Andy, I thought you were smarter than that. SMH
$125,000 dollars is all?? What a joke! That will support at least one business Woo Hoo!!
Harris is worthless and only steps foot on the Eastern Shore when he's campaigning or making some grand gesture. He's been conning you morons who will vote for whatever Republican is on the ballot for years. Someone should run against him in a primary election.
Harris doing what he does best. TAKING CARE OF HIMSELF. He actually thinks people don't see through his bullshit. Time for another republican to be sent HOME. Some Republicans never learn. Look back at Andy Harris record?? WTF has he done?? Nothing. He's been taking care of his lowlife lobbyists and himself. Can you say Rino??
the money should be granted to the business owners themselves and not the useless Maryland Capital Enterprises. Everyone knows how these do nothing non profits operate. 1 dollar the the community 99 dollars for them for "operating expenses" Do not be fooled. Time to hold this racket money funneling operation and all the rest accountable
