According to WBOC, the Talbot County Council voted Tuesday to keep the confederate monument from the grounds of the Talbot County Courthouse.
The monument, which features a soldier holding a Confederate flag, generated recent controversy.
A push five years ago to remove the statue failed.

take that BLM and you Liberal Democrats
Good. Glad to finally see someone have the b---s to stand up to this bull that is affecting this country
The Talbot Boys statue isn't about history. It was put up a little over 100 years ago to remind black people fighting in the first Civil Rights movement who was in charge. It's not even honoring a specific person. It's just racist propaganda.
Poor baby. so sorry, but everyone else in this world has the right to be just as offended as you on whatever side they are on.
That's why we DISCUSS things, DA!

At last, some people with brains that function above a fourth grade level. What in the realm of Hell did these troops do, that their place in history should be erased along with their honor and sense of duty? Some bastard who has never made a sacrifice or shed blood in the service of what they believe in has the audacity to question their allegiance under the guise of racism, has the standing of a buzzard in my eyes. None of those brave men questioned, they acted. Shut up and move on into the lower reaches of Hell with all veterans in agreement of your cowardice.
Glad the Talboy County Council did the right thing and voted "No" on the removal of this historical monument! The Talbot Boys monument has been standing there for over 120 years. History is History and the Council stood tall not to cave in to the cries of just a few! Proud to be an American this day in Talbot County!:)
Praise to Talbot County. They know how the ball bounces. Now the bunch of fruits in Annapolis need to get out when Hogan does and move to another state.
If you start taking one down, They all come down including Harriet Tubman!!! She will be next on the chopping block if any statue in the area is forced to be removed!!! Eye for an Eye Folks!!
Actually the Harriet Tubman statue that sits out front of the SU teacher building, is in fact offensive. Its dipiction is of the magical black. It looks like a casting based on snow white with Harriets Head. Bunnies and birds at her feet. I doubt Harriet ever sang to the woodland creatures.
Yet the Harriet statue has been there for a decade and this is the first time i have bothered to say anything about it. Cause i got a job and stuff to do.
Hard to complain when u ate busy paying bills and living your life.
It just seems to me that that the rate that the BLM bunch is going, Booker T. Washington will take the place of George Washington as the first president of the United States. He just need to watch the movie idiocity to get some idea of the way things are going to pan out in the future when it comes to historical reference. It was a stupid movie but yet it had some very true aspects to it.
The fact is that we had a Civil War, and geography played a big role in how how citizens in various states and regions dealt with it at the time, and in its aftermath.
Maryland was a Border State, and might well have joined the Confederacy except Washington, DC was located adjacent to it. Lincoln took action against a number of State officials to keep the state from seceding.
As recently seen in the historical marker crisis in Salisbury, some from the Shore chose to support the South and some to support the North. That's part of history.
Regarding the statue in Easton; it was commissioned and erected decades after the war. Proponents and opponents can and should use its continued presence as an opportunity for dialogue, education and community unity going forward. There is a statue of Frederick Douglas on the same lawn. He was a freed slave, abolitionist, author and speaker from the Shore and achieved national renown in the Civil War era. He also had at least one vote cast for him in the 1868 Republican presidential convention.
Let's have dialogue and balance rather than purging those historical aspects we dislike today.
Great news. Talbot County Council has backbone.
So you just contradicted yourself by explaining and proving it is history. How else would you have known unless you are ancient. Thank you Talbot County. Most refreshing news to hit the stands (see I am ancient) lately.
Well treason against America is still embraced in Talbot county I see....CSA forever!
God Bless the Talbot Boys! Keep standing Proud representing the Confederacy!

The confederate traitor flag has no place being on public property, it need to be sawed off the statue at the very least.
