Rep. Andy Harris (R.-Md.) said in an interview with CNSNews.com that a bill that passed the U.S. House of Representatives this summer to make the District of Columbia a state is unconstitutional.
“I would hope that the nine members of the Supreme Court can read the plain language of the Constitution and realize it would be an unconstitutional attempt,” Harris said of the bill.
On June 26, the House voted 232 to 180 to approve the Washington, D.C. Admission Act. Only one Democrat voted against the bill.
If enacted, it would convert the District of Columbia into a state that would be called Washington, Douglas Commonwealth. This new state, like all other states, would have two United States senators.
One provision of the bill, as explained in its summary, “provides for expedited consideration of a joint resolution repealing the 23rd Amendment to the Constitution, which provides for the appointment of electors of the President and Vice President.”

When has anyone cared if it was constitutional or not??? They just do it and it is up you to Harris to stop them, along with the citizens but, we know the citizens rather be slaves so we can't expect or count on them!!!!

Not like a state where that state just belongs to the people of that state and Governed by that states representatives. the District belongs to All Americans and was set up and intended that way and governed by the elected President and his administration. Most of DC falls under the Dept of the Interior and appointed by the President . Read the Constitution.

The nations capital CAN still remain, but most of NE/SE/NW/SW DC can go to Maryland since DC is on MD's side of the Potomac.
Don't let logistics or feelings get in the way of NEEDED change. 21st Century and the Constitution is still upheld with a smaller portion of DC remaining the nation's capital.
