Fredrick County Public Schools MD - Layoffs for Bus Drivers, Cafeteria
FREDERICK COUNTY, Md. (FOX 5 DC) - Hundreds of school bus drivers and cafeteria workers with the Fredrick County Public Schools system are expected to lose their jobs in the coming weeks.
The school system made the announcement in a letter Wednesday, saying that they simply don’t have work for them.
Off topic Joe but SU has returning students moving in already and many cases of them already quarantined in their dorm rooms because covid positive. SU is going to try to keep students on campus for at least one month regardless because then student tuition won't be refunded. It is a bit scary because they will certainly be out in Salisbury. Who makes these asinine decisions in the name of $$$$$?
With the way the hordes and hordes of public school buildings being vacant now for months upon months on end, it high time for our taxpaying public to get out of the public education busines s and start refunding our taxpayers for these white elephant expenses.

A significant number of those school busses are financed and the owners have to make regular payments on them. How is that going to work out?
See Joe's previous posting about the credit crunch. This is what's happening. Get yourself prepared.
Who owns the buses?

The buses are privately owned and operated.
Maryland doesn't provide public school buses like other States.

Certainly not the schools. In Wicomico County buses are owned by individual contractors
Wicomico County needs to do some layoffs
