Capitol Hill has come to a standstill following heated discussions last week on what to include in the next coronavirus stimulus package.
One thing they did seem to agree on was another set of $1,200 checks to Americans, similar to the payments that went out this spring.
While Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin has said he wanted to start getting those second checks out this month, that seems more and more unlikely the longer that Congress fails to seal a deal.
"What I would say to people is there is still a pretty good chance that you're going to get these payments," said Howard Gleckman, senior fellow at the Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center. "But it's impossible to know when or how long it's going to take."

Certainly I did or I wouldn’t be looking for it. I meet all the criteria. First went online and was advised to call a number. Called the number and was told to go online. Later tried and couldn’t get through. I talked with them a months ago and was told it would be mailed on a Friday and be two weeks from then.Now a six to eight week trace is on to see if I received, cashed, and spent it. The whole system is not user friendly. I am not dependent on it. If i am eligible like most I would rather have it in my pocket than government stack, pack and pallet it to Iran or give to a illegal that has never contributed to the system. So yes I have filed for many years as mandated by the thieves . I’m not holding my breath because I have supported myself and family as should all of my working days.There is no hope I will ever see it. Not worth pursuing with their red tape. They don’t play well with others.
