United Airlines says it needs only 3,000 of its 25,000 flight attendants

United Airlines has told staff that it only has work for about 3,000 of its about 25,000 flight attendants in June, sources said, and warned of job losses if demand does not recover by the time government payroll aid expires in the fall.

United is paying flight attendants until Sept. 30 thanks largely to $5 billion the airline is receiving in government payroll aid under the CARES Act, which prohibits any job or pay cuts for employees before October.

Chicago-based United and other airlines have begun to share more details with employees about the scale of their dilemma in trying to match crews and fleets to an uncertain recovery from the economic crisis sparked by the new coronavirus pandemic, which has sent the global economy into a tailspin.

United’s flying schedule is down by about 90 percent. It and other US airlines have slashed the number of flights and are scrambling to reduce a collective $10 billion monthly cash burn.

Watch out for a decision by American Airlines on the future of a Piedmont. Rumors in Salisbury is American will shutdown Piedmont and merge its few remaining pilots and mechanics into Envoy and PSA.

Time to jack up prices upon return...thats ALL big business knows how to do trying to recoup lost revenue. Mind you, no one ever recoups what is lost. Lost is lost forever.

A small business business model failure that has happened time and time again - yet human ingenuity doesn't accept that fact and what happens?

Jacked up prices - eventual failure of that small business.

BIG business survives because they are BIG - yet with many casualties as a result.

There is never a fast recovery. It takes time and sometimes years of loss before you make a buck.

Yet there is no time for that. A no win scenario - indeed.

AND we are now $5-$8T (TRILLION) more in debt as a nation.

Where are my LEGAL pot brownies when I need them!!!!!

Piedmont employees. My spouse works for Piedmont in records. It’s all they talk about. That and how they want the shutdown to occur sooner than later so they can draw unemployment. That’s the truth.

Read it carefully.

"The return of all parked E175s and ERJ145s only applies to Envoy Air. Other carriers, like Republic and Piedmont, will likely keep their fleet parked."

The Dallas Morning News is reporting comments made by American CFO Derek Kerr that American Airlines will need to "right-size" the airline heading into the fall and 2021. Everyone employed at Piedmont Airlines knows what "right-size" means.
