Coronavirus antibody testing finds Bay Area infections may be 85 times higher than reported: researchers

A team of researchers in California found that the number of coronaviruses cases in one county may actually be up to 85 times higher than the what health officials have tallied, and say their data may help better estimate the virus’ true fatality rate.

Earlier this month, Stanford University-led researchers tested 3,330 adults and children in Santa Clara County, who were recruited using Facebook ads, for SARS-CoV-2 antibodies and found that the population prevalence of COVID-19 in Santa Clara ranged from 2.49 percent to 4.16 percent.

“The most important implication of these findings is that the number of infections is much greater than the reported number of cases,” the researchers wrote, in a yet-to-be peer-reviewed study. “Our data imply that, by April 1 (three days prior to the end of our survey) between 48,000 and 81,000 people had been infected in Santa Clara County. The reported number of confirmed positive cases in the county on April 1 was 956, 50-85-fold lower than the number of infectious predicted by this study.”

and what the 85% of the population? What is the deal toll of that 85%? 50% do not even show any symptoms. So that tells us that at least 50% is a survival rate right out of the gate. so with millions alreday exposed and possibly being sick, how many have actually died of the virus? These numbers make a huge impact on the true numbers being infected vs the death toll numbers and this makes the death rate very very low! Which does not warrant the shut down and destruction of this nation!

“Maybe” or “what if” is all we get now a days. My business is closed forever and that is reality. I blame government of China and Bar Owners for spreading it until 5pm Monday. Now they want the governor to do more. Nah, I’ll pass on that.

I am very sorry to hear about your business. It is a tough reality, my family is facing the same grim outlook. We cannot control China and their coverup, but we can control what our Towns and Cities did to us. As long as the bars got their money. We talked about the same thing the other night at the table. The greedy bars had to be told to close, they could not make that decision for themselves. Now the repercussions are becoming self evident. People remember that from here on. I hope you land back on your feet soon, hopefully it will get better.
