The churches are desperate to fill the offering plates. No thanks delusional people.
Does the money benefit the church or does the money go back to Mountaire is the question. Maybe the church is just the location for the size of the parking lot.
If it is donated to the church, it should be free to the people who would come and pick it up. A church should depend upon the tithes and offerings of God's people that attend the church. I feel if it is a ministry, they should purchase the chicken themselves and give it to people in need.
If it is being sold by Mountaire, thank you Mountaire for being a blessing to people in these hard times.
If your are a "church" that has a $200,000+ sound/video system, a full-time paid staff of 8 with full benefits and lord only knows what else then you should pay income taxes, and no discount on real estate taxes either.
Perhaps a tax-break for all-volunteer churches that have completely open books and can show at least 60% of their revenue goes to LOCAL charities/needy. None of these indoctrination pilgrimages to Haiti, Guatemala, Africa BS either.
6:13 - That's cold & heartless, shame on you. 10 lbs of Boneless Breasts & Tenders for only $10 ($40 Case). Nobody is making any money off that, it's wonderfully generous!
You know what 6:13 churches give hope in uncertain times. They also help out the local people with those collections in that offering plate. I pray you don't need the assistance, however should you, the church you criticize would be more then happy to help you.
What money are they getting out of offering a place to safely complete this for both the company and the individuals in need? I’m glad you are fulfilled with food you need and have the supplies but very grateful for the opportunity for those less fortunate to be able to provide during these times without price gouging and safety precautions in place
6:13 - WOW! Sorry for your misguided views of the Church. ORBC is an amazing church that does amazing things for the community. Of course like a previous comment stated, this is not a church function - just that ORBC is giving a place for Mountaire to set up to help the community. It's so sad to see comments like yours when we are all trying to find good and hope in a crazy time. I am sorry your experience with the Christian community has had such a negative impact on your life. As with any institution, funding is necessary. The church survives strictly on Tithes and Offerings - many people choose not to give anything and they are still welcome. Thank God for the church and for his forgiveness. 6:13 - It's ok to have an opinion and share it - God loves you anyway and so do his people - the Church. Prayers for you.
Ever think that mountaire might have to sell this chicken fast? So many restaurants are closed that would normally be using it. God bless them for helping the community. Shame on the people that jump to conclusions about the church. It's a big parking lot that could handle a drive up sale.
Non taxable Maryland code: Food items that are sold by a substantial grocery or market business for consumption off the premises is not considered taxable prepared food. However, food items that are prepared for consumption on the grocer’s premises or are packaged for carry out are considered prepared food and are subject to a 6% sales tax.
People, this is not to benefit the church! It’s about a company stepping up and offering an amazing deal to many of those who can’t afford $6-$7 a pound for chicken, something that is brimming over here on the shore.
Nothing like some people always turning something good into some form of conflict!

This has nothing to do with Oak Ridge. They are using their parking lot. Can't call it the Kmart shopping center anymore. Lol

Just some thoughts to think about.
6:13 Thanks for leaving the chicken for the rest of us.

6:13 Churches can’t operate without the people or the tithe. If their were no offering their would be no church building

What a stupid reply, they are trying to help people get cheap food

Hey - I was in DC recently.....99 cents a pound in 8 pound bags at Safeway. They couldn't get rid of the chix fast enough.
Need to look/ask everywhere since challenges are everywhere.
Sodas - forget about it!

11:03 Well said!
6:52 Amen!!
Just stay away from the koolaid.
Does that price include tax? Or will it be considered a non-taxable purchase? Asking for a friend.
Non taxable
