Richard Gusler’s wife has chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. She sometimes has trouble breathing.
Afraid of the coronavirus, he drove her up from Raleigh to their beach house in Rodanthe to get away from the crowds.
On Tuesday, Dare County officials moved to ensure those crowds get even smaller. As of 2 p.m., the county closed its border to tourists in response to the Center for Disease Control’s guidelines to avoid discretionary travel.
“I am glad about the restrictions," he said as he placed groceries in his car at a store in Rodanthe. "This makes it a lot safer here.”

Insanity. If you are old stay home.
Ocean City should do the same!!!!!!
can we shut the bridges down to stop anybody from coming to the shore unless you are from here? Unless its trucks with goods or supplies or mail or packages? The tunnel, the bay and the one at Wilmington. Shut them down.
This is insanity. The "ME" society out there hoarding anything and everything so it does not matter if you are old or young. You are not going to find anything you are looking for anyway. I am 70 years old and I can not stay home if I need something and I have to keep looking for it because of these selfish people. Went to 5 stores today and still went home without what I needed. I sure as heck am not going out tomorrow looking for it though. I am worn out.
Stop tourist from going to OC sounds great but where would you be without them. What is your industry? Fishing/craving? Good. However not going to support OC as you know it with or without tourists. Think about what would happen with less revenue (money)😂😂
6:54 My husband went out this morning at 6:30AM to grocery stores & found everything we have been looking for except his pumpernickel bread. Even came home with TP!!! Maybe you could try going earlier for better luck.
