A former Frederick pediatrician found guilty of a sexual offense involving a patient will serve less than a year behind bars.
Judge William R. Nicklas Jr. sentenced Dr. Ernesto Torres, 69, to a one-year sentence in the Frederick County Detention Center. He granted a request from Torres’ attorney Margaret Teahan to give Torres credit for time served since he began home detention on May 7, approximately 230 days.
Nicklas did not announce if probation will be included with the sentence.
Nicklas found Torres guilty of fourth-degree sex offense and second-degree assault after a bench trial Nov. 1. During sentencing, he merged the two sentences.
