Driver killed after trash truck plunges 80 feet at Conowingo Dam

CONOWINGO, Md. (WBFF) - A New York man was killed after the trash truck he was driving fell off the Conowingo Dam in Cecil County overnight.

Luis Garcia, 53, of Ridgewood, N.Y., crashed at about 1:30 a.m., according to a Maryland State Police news release.

Police believe Garcia's dump trailer failed to negotiate a bend in the road, and crashed. The trailer struck the jersey wall, overturned and fell about 80 feet to the bottom of the dam.

Where was that driver going with that NY trash (welcome to MD?)? I wonder how much haz mat was in that load. Hauling "trash" at night, under the cover of darkness, is suspicious to me. Then again, maybe he was tired, and driving past his hours of service limits.
