Mayor Jake Day said,
“It keeps our tax rates low. We’re proud that for three years running, we’ve been able to keep our taxes flat in Salisbury, no tax increases, and we hope to keep that running for as long as we can and this is how you get there, by managing every cost that comes into the city and one of those is electricity.”The contract will go into effect in June of 2020, and end in June of
2025.

See THIS article where he DID raise taxes with Heath in support and Jackson opposed in 2017
The proposed new tax rate is $.9832 per $100 of assessed value, a 4 cent increase over the current $.9432 rate.
The consensus to raise taxes across the board came after a lengthy
discussion at Monday night’s work session in which Councilwoman April Jackson said she opposed the two-tier system that would have imposed a higher rate on rental properties which landlords said would result in higher rents.
“In my district, all this will fall on the renters,” she said. “They’re
barely making it now, they’re struggling.”
Jackson and Councilman Hardy Rudisill said they favored maintaining the current tax rate, but that would require cutting the budget in which spending remained even with the current year, Day told them.
In the video with above article he says he is lowering them but the
whole article is about him raising them

If Day's mouth is open lies are inevitably spewing out
"the renters"
Who are they? I guess Students at SU. What taxes to they pay compared to residents? None as far as I know.
Personally, I think Ron Gray in Sussex county is the Most qualified alternative for conversation Governor in DE.
He didn’t raise the RATE. He raised the ASSESSMENTS, which means you’re paying more! Does he think we’re stupid? I guess the answer is obviously yes. For some reason the tax bills for city and county were mailed separately this year, leading many city taxpayers to initially think their taxes had gone down. Look at the city budget to compare tax revenues year over year as well as spending. That’s the real measuring stick.
Yeah just like he lied about getting legal permits to sell alcohol at the festival I'd like to see him focus on some real important issues like bringing good jobs to Salisbury. That will support and build a nice downtown.
6:38 Bingo! Lies. He raised water and sewer rates too
Taxes in Salisbury and Fruitland s__k!
What a awful and wholly vague article. Wind based means that idiot bought into wind turbines. Bought and paid for with your tax dollars and as he said - you will not see a direct benefit.
In fact what you will see are steep bills to pay for the constant repairs for the turbines. Too bad that rube didn't bother to drive down to Crisfield and have a little chat with them and how their taxpayer paid turbine isnt producing anywhere near what they were promised while they are on the hook for years to pay for that disaster.
And this was all done intentionally to put you on the hook whether he won the election or not.
First he squanders millions on a folk festival and now this.
Enjoy being pennyless Smallsburians.
High rents, useless festivals, bike lanes and minimum wage jobs. This is what you consider winning?
Surprise surprise Jakey lied!
i call bs! the renters won't be paying the increase. We the taxpayers will be paying it for them, so the slumlords of salisbury can continue to line their pockets!
Thats pretty funny that on the article that says they voted to increase taxes jakie is on there saying they cut taxes.
Could it be any more of a clown show?
If they raised taxes on the renters, they would just raise the rent. Regardless, the PEOPLE will be paying the higher taxes. I hate Lying Jake. Vote for King.
Everybody knows he lies. They'll re-elect him anyhow.
All he does is flash a smile sick his bullies out to intimidate and he gets away with it.
