Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser (D) has moved to block the Trump administration's construction of a shelter for unaccompanied migrant children in the district.
The Washington Post reported that Bowser blocked the shelter's construction by using emergency regulations that bar the city's child welfare agency from issuing licenses to facilities that house more than 15 people.
Federal officials had planned to oversee the construction of a 200-bed facility in the Takoma neighborhood built by Maryland-based contractor Dynamic Service Solutions.
The federal government awarded Dynamic Service Solutions with a $20.5 million contract to build the facility, but the D.C. Child and Family Services Agency later found the contractor's application to be "inadequate," though it did not reject it completely, an unnamed D.C. official told the Post.

If I am doing my math correctly that is $102,500 per bed. Why are we not building shelters for our homeless with this money and let those that crossed the border illegally sleep in the tents

I agree that the money is a waste to spend on these illegals, but built shelters for the homeless??
How about build mental sanitariums for these mentally ill homeless and get them off the street with or without their permission?
Another liberal nimby mofo !!!
Sanctuary mayor doesn’t want a shelter for his children? I’m so confused with the left!
Proof that I was right. Politians stating "not in my neighborhood". They will not solve the problem and want it out of sight out of mind.
Northwest Woodsman: I think each of these supporters of sanctuary policies should be required to house at least one family in their personal residence. That is in addition to the illegals that they have as maids and gardeners already.
I agree. I am so tired of Democrats and free loaders.
Sanitariums the answer.
I bet Jake Day would proudly announce that Salisbury will welcome the whole flotilla. Get that Fed money incoming. Just like Bush did when he imported a shipload of unnecessary Haitians to insert in the middle of what was a perfectly good neighborhood.
Its always ok, until its in THEIR backyard and then not so much.
