Veteran-owned company calls for Nike ban, issues T-shirt with Betsy Ross flag

A veteran-owned apparel company is jumping into the debate over Nike's reported decision to pull shoes with an early American flag from shelves by offering some harsh criticism and their own shirts with the 'Betsy Ross flag.'

Nine Line Apparel is a Savannah, Georgia-based company founded by a military veteran Tyler Meritt and his wife in 2012. In response to Nike's decision and the debate surrounding it, Merritt says his company Nine Line Apparel has released a t-shirt featuring the flag created during the Second Continental Congress to show unity among the original 13 colonies.

Nike became the center of debate following a report from the Wall Street Journal it decided to pull shoes with the flag on it after former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick and other people reportedly expressed concerns over the flag since it was connected to the era of slavery.

10:10-Throwing away your already purchased Nike stuff is not smart. You already bought it. Just don't buy more.

This anti-American stuff is way out of hand. I mean, what American company is so stupid to call our original American flag unpatriotic, racist, oppressive ??
And what company is stupid enough to listen to Colin Kapernick?!?

9:54 Or maybe they’re worked up over Nike being so Anti-American. 🙄

1034, I disagree. Wearing their stuff is free advertising. It should definitely be discarded.

9:54, the free market means it's on the shelf for purchase and people are free to decide to buy or not but. Not to have items removed because some loser malcontent doesn't like it and whines to the company.

Its as if buying off politicians for decades to make it easier to send jobs overseas and minupulate the tax code to drastically drop their burden was never an issue for you guys to get angry over.

The Betsy Ross flag is a historical symbol. No one thought of slavery when it was designed. The stars represent the 13 colonies at the time, etc. Free blacks owned slaves at the time. It was legal then. That culture has changed. The public outcry is all rooted in Leftists still angry over Trump winning an election. And there WAS collusion and obstruction in the 2016 election. But by Hitlary and the DNC leftists. Not Trump.

I haven't bought any Nike products in 25 years. Why buy UN-AMERICAN products from our enemies??

Anonymous said...

Ummmm Nike, a private company, made the decision willingly. Not because Big Gov told them to

I agree 12:03, that loser has destroyed nfl football for me. I'll never look at another game unless a new league is started with patriotic American players

Homophobia is not an argument here, 4:40. Sorry if your Nike's finish off your gay look. Your argument sets us conservatives back with phobias of those who are different. Gay is okay with me, until you want me to celebrate it. It is a scientific fact one in ten are gay. If you can't deal with that, you are hurting the Republican base. Again, just don't put it in my face. I believe, as I stated before in these comment threads, "Don't tread on me." It couldn't be stated any more simply. 1990 was almost 30 years ago. Civil rights movement was 30 years before that. We need to be tolerant, but maintain our own rights. They never fail to take the low road, so all we have to do is point them out. They cannot resist being idiots. It's a matter of just watching them act like idiots, then react when they f*** up. They will, and it's just about being ready for their first move. We always respond in accordance, hence Donald Trump.
