‘Queer Bible Hermeneutics’ course teaches students about ‘queerness in the church’

A course at a theological school purports to teach students about LGBT issues contained in the Bible and in Christian theology. The instructor says the course is “always well-enrolled.”

“Queer Bible Hermeneutics” at Southern Methodist University’s Perkins School of Theology is a “study of the historical, political, cultural, and religious-theological discourses about gender and sexuality in the context of the interpretation of the Hebrew Bible,” the course’s web page states.

The course “develops self-critical perspectives about the influence of biblical meanings on hermeneutically-dynamic, politically- and religiously-charged conversations over socio-cultural practices related to LGBTQ communities.”

The syllabus of the course states that queer hermeneutics is “an increasingly important research area in the academic field of biblical studies.”

The instructor of the course, Susanne Scholz, told The College Fix that the course is popular with students.

Isaiah 5:20-21 King James Version (KJV)

20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

21 Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!

I acknowledge Jesus before men but am ashamed of the liberal elements of the Methodist church.

We need to split this country so that all of the freaks are in their own country.

There is NO queerness in churches that actually preach their curriculum out of the Bible. These idiots all this progressive ideology today until tragedy strikes them or someone in their families. Then they miraculously become born again believers and cry out to the almighty for his grace and mercy on their lives. Guess what it doesn't work!! This particular topic I struggle with because I don't agree at all with homosexuality or it being accepted in church I'm taught that I'm supposed to love them and allow god yo change their hearts and wicked desires
