Maryland public schools will soon see lockbox fund spent on education

ANNAPOLIS, Md. —It's been a long time coming, but a few days from now, Maryland will see the first of its gambling dollars being spent on public education.

This is money that has been set aside in what's called the lockbox fund.

July 1 begins a new budget year, in which local school systems will be able to cash in on much needed education money.

It's a victory won at the ballot box. That's where nearly 90% of Maryland voters approved the use of casino dollars to help pay for public education.

"The passage of this constitutional amendment, which is what we needed to see happen, really guarantees that the casino money will go to education," said Cheryl Bost, president of the Maryland State Education Association.

As if we had to explain to our government that yes, we want casino money to be spent on education, when that's how we were snookered into allowing gaming in the first place by our "leaders".

But the sad thing is, even though you know this to be a fact, which every time a politician talks they are hoodwinking you, you clowns fall for it every single time, WHY???? It pretty much means that you are stupid, to stupid to even be aware while you are hoodwinked that you can actual research this crap and not allow yourself to be snookered... But no, you just sit there complaining and blah blah blah... Has your complaining solve anything yet??? Has it fixed anything yet??? NO, ,so try something else!!!!!!

Has your berating every body done absolutley anything? It's funny how you like to call everyone else stupid, but anyone who reads your posts feels exactly the same about your ignorant ass, and there's many of us. Just one of you. Go try and make a friend somewhere. Sounds like you need one. You're the saddest sack I've ever seen on this blog. You're pathetic and your words are stupid and worthless. Jerk!

Maryland will start the next budget year with a 873 million dollar structural budget deficit. It is expected to go higher and it always does. So what is the first thing our legislature will do? They'll say this is an emergency to save our AAA Bond Rating and take the money out of the "Lock Box" to make up for the deficit. Our Governors, and notice I used plurals for "Governors", took so much funds from the Maryland State Retirement "Lock Box" that the rating agencies warned them that taking more funds out of the retirement system would result in a lowering of Maryland's bond rating. Here's a question: why hasn't the State put the funding back into the State Retirement System? It's the Social Security Scam all over again.
