Traffic Delays On Saturday In Salisbury
Residents planning on using the following routes should expect delays on Saturday, April 6, 2019, due to the Salisbury Marathon/Half-Marathon/#RunSBY 5k. Residents are encouraged to go to www.sbymarathon.com and look under the COURSES tab for a full turn-by-turn map of the race course.
The course has been programmed into the Waze traffic app and will re-route you to your destination, based on the current directional road closures. Please note, there are no complete road closures, only LANES of roads.
We apologize for any inconvenience the race may cause, but we encourage you to come outside and cheer on these athletes from all over the Country, who have decided to make Salisbury and Wicomico County their destination!
The longer event will START at 7am at the Salisbury City Park and end in Downtown Salisbury. A 5k will start at 7:30 am from the Downtown Plaza and run up Riverside and return.
WHAT FOLLOWS IS A LIST OF LONG TERM CLOSURES (All on Saturday except where noted):

White arrow signs will be placed along Riverside Dr. indicating detours for those affected by the lane closure. These are expected to help residents with the longest routing issues, especially those that live on the West side of Riverside Drive and Riverside Drive Extended. The suggested route to reach any of these areas on Riverside Drive extended is to:
-Take Camden Avenue to Allen Cutoff Road
-Continue on Allen Cutoff Road on to Allen Road
-Continue on Allen Road and Turn RIGHT on S Upper Ferry Road
-Turn RIGHT on Walnut Tree (you will see runners going to opposite direction)
-WHEN IT IS SAFE, Turn LEFT on to Campground Road
-You will be able to access all points of Riverside Drive from here.
-If you live WEST of SILOAM ROAD, continue on Campground to Riverside Drive Ext
-If you live EAST of SILOAM ROAD, take Siloam Road and continue to your residence
We sincerely appreciate your patience and, most of all, your watchfulness as you drive in and around Salisbury this coming weekend. For more information on routes or the SBY Marathon in general, go to www.sbymarathon.com

Totally ridiculous. This is as bad as that stupid SU Bike Marathon or what ever it is called. People have things to do and this is totally a disrupter. Who is going to pay for the extra gas we will have to buy, since this will amount to extra miles of travel, with all this price fixing by the oil companies? Use the tracks at high schools and SU so peoples daily lives are not totally put in a tailspin for a small group of people. What stupid Politian had this stupid idea.
Heard Tell,
Jake Day and his Transgender running team
will be participating wearing pink running hats

Joe didn't make the mistake. I did. With one click your comment went into the trash. Throw me another one so I can click on that one too.
Hopefully there will be a good turnout for the event. There is nothing negative about community involvement. There is still time to sign up If you choose to represent heterosexual males in the run.
That's why my realtor couldn't sell my house - to busy hanging out with Day.
A whole town inconvenienced for a select few.
And 7:53 doesn't think that is negative.
Last I saw they still had 100 slots open at $140 a pop.
Doesn't look like they are banging down the door to get in!
Looks like no one is running the 5K

100 spots remain for the 5k!! It's going to be a beautiful day for a run!! Sign Up TODAY!!! Beat the price increase on the 5th!
Hope they don't run over any crack pipes.
Anything that brings some life and outside $$ to this burg is a blessing.
We all need more human interaction like the marathon and seagull century.
Should be rescheduled to coincide with Folked Fest; would double the turnout for each event.
This is the first I've seen about this and the route. A lot of it is on 2 lane roads where residents and motorists have few alternatives during a multi-hour restriction. Sub-par planning and general public notification all for the sake of massaging Jake's ego and generating fees.
We all need more human interaction like the marathon and seagull century.

Huh? you mean playing chicken in the street? Isn't that what they do? Act like they own the street and not move over?
I will not be changing my driving route to appease some glorified joggers
Correct 8:33
Jesus Christ, why don't you just shut down all of Salisbury? We have miles and miles of back country roads they can run on and you run them right through Salisbury? Who is the idiot that figured this crap out?
Guaranteed there will be many of these runners who will not stay in their lane. Just like the bike riders do every year. I wonder how many will get hit because they forget that cars will be coming in the other direction?
How the hell are people who live on Morris Mill Road going to get in town if S Division Street from Coulbourn Mill to Power St is closed till almost 10:00am? Division St. is closed at Morris Mill Road because of construction at the pond. Didn't think of that one, huh fools. Pain in the azz.
Damn didn’t they just have one of these runfests a couple of weeks ago? Why do they do this BS? People wanna run? Hit the damn countryside. Quit impeding Salisbury’s traffic for your own selfish ambitions.
This BS is ridiculous.
It's all about your illustrious mayor Day and fulfilling HIS social media deficiencies
Not a very good turnout!! They didn't have many participants doing the full marathon. Days probably turned this into a 5k and GLBT drunk fest downtown afterwards
At least it's something different than painting rainbows all over town.
Must not have been too relevant DAY didn't smear himself all over social media running in his wife's shorts, lmfao. People must not be too impressed with Salisbury they were scrambling to get out of town after the race. Salisbury literally looked like a ghost town afterwards
