Suspisious Activity Near The Zoo In Salisbury
Just so others are more aware. Please be safe out there especially with your kids. This happened earlier today around 1pm...
My husband, son, a friend of ours and I were going to walk around the zoo for a little while since it was nice outside. We were walking by Ben’s Red Swings playground towards the zoo entrance, and our 2-year old was holding his dad’s hand, our friend was walking right with them, and I was about 2 feet away just looking around at everything. A teenaged girl about 15-17 years old walked up to my husband and told him that our son’s “mom” was calling for him, and his name was Carter so she was going to take the baby to her. My husband said that it was definitely his son and our friend confirmed. The girl said that his mom needed him (my husband said no i’t his son again) and she was taking him, and reached for our son. As she did, our son tried to back away from her and his dad was picking him up. As soon as our son was picked up by my husband, he turned his other shoulder to her, and she tried to grab him again. Our friend got between the girl and my husband and son as I was coming around them. I grabbed her by her wrists, definitely harder than I realized (and was told that I pinned her up against the fence, which I didn’t realize at the time because I was in defense mode) and yelled at her “No, that’s my son.” Only then did she back off and said “Sorry, I didn’t realize you were his mom,” and ran away to the parking lot faster than anyone I’ve seen before. If she really was trying to help a mom find a child, she would have known what the child looked like (no other kid looked even remotely looked like him), would have run back into the playground (where she said the “mom” was), and would have realized her “mistake” sooner. We also looked around after she took off to see if anyone was missing a child that they were looking for, wanting to help if it was a misunderstanding. She intentionally targeted my husband because she did not realize his mom was already there, and people would have most likely defended her in taking my child because she was a plain looking teenager, and a female. We have made a police report. The girl that tried to take our son was about 5’3’’, white, glasses, thin build, and had short frizzy light brown hair. After all of this happened, another one of our friends was at the playground yesterday and gave me her description before I told him exactly what she looked like, and she was there the day before with a skinny, mixed, male. They were sitting at the playground looking around, and had no child(ren) with them. This is unfortunately common tactic used for human trafficking, which has become a really bad problem in this area.
