Deputies: Father shoots man who stole car with 6-year-old boy inside


LANTANA, Fla. —A father chased down his own stolen car with his 6-year-old son inside, eventually shooting at it and critically injuring the man allegedly driving it, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.

Lamar Thurman, 29, is in critical condition after the shooting, the Sheriff's Office said. No charges have been filed yet in the case.

According to the Sheriff's Office, Thurman got into a running vehicle in front of 3260 Roberts Lane in West Palm Beach and took off with the boy in the backseat. The owner of the car and friends followed the stolen vehicle.

The car crashed in front of 10 Loquat Tree Drive in Lantana, according to the Sheriff's Office.

11:23 AM He may have pulled up in front of his friends house and stood in the driveway to talk to him and left the car running with the a/c on to keep the kid cool.
