Thousands of men could be spared life-changing treatment for prostate cancer following a scientific breakthrough.
They can now find out how likely they are to die in next 10 or 15 years, and how much treatment will improve their survival chances.
For a third of prostate cancer patients, or roughly 15,000 men in Britain, the chance of dying is so low that choosing to have surgery or radiotherapy will provide little benefit.
The decision of whether to go ahead with treatment is now easier after scientists developed a computer questionnaire.

God bless anyone with any kind of cancer. Let's hope more breakthroughs come.
If I have cancer of any type I want it gone. I've had prostate cancer and melanoma(skin cancer) and have been treated for both and am real glad they are gone.Don't believe that crap that's ok to leave it untreated,it can spread all throughout your body.
If I find it, I want it out.
My husband went through radiation for 3-4 mos. for prostate cancer. 3 mos. after his last treatment he contracted 'transverse myelitis'. All his medical team and caregivers said it was due to the radiation treatments. He came home from work and within 5 hrs. he was in the hospital and paralyzed from the bottom of his feet to under his breast bone. This devastated us and completely turned our lives upside down. Do your homework before taking treatment.
