REPOST: We have heard reports of 4 to 5 hour waits at some MVA locations to comply with the REAL ID requirements. Below are the steps needed to take to be sure you are in compliance. Failure to comply may prevent you from flying on a commercial aircraft, entering any Federal building and other restrictions. To mitigate the lines….MAKE AN APPOINTMENT which are currently running about two months out. While October 2020 seems like a long way off, consider that there are approximately 4.5 million drivers in Maryland with only 19 locations to handle this transaction. It cannot be handled by mail or kiosk or through an independent agent.
In the wake of 911, the Federal Government established theREAL ID Act which made it a priority that individual states verify the identity of their residents. Since most people will drive or have a state issued ID card, the logical vehicle to implement this is through the Motor Vehicle Administration. Your existing license may be compliant, but more likely than no, it is not.
So what happens with a non-compliant license? You will be turned away at any TSA checkpoint in airports across the country (if you have a passport, you should be OK), you will not be allowed to enter any federal buildings, military bases or nuclear facilities.

MD will still allow illegals to get a MD drivers license and register them to vote.
Got an email from DMV that said I could get the new license early. Made and appointment, went to DMV with all documents. Was passed through and initial screener. Waited for my number to come up and went to the lady behind a desk who said I could not get a renewed licensed more than six months in advance of expiration. Asked why DMV sent an email and made the appointment. She shrugged her shoulders and I left. Just ignor the email when you get it.
And we don't require ID to vote!

I tried to make an appointment online and told me I could not so I ended up there several hours.
Hour to wait in line only to be told there is an issue with their credit card machine so I have to leave to get cash
Another hour or more in line once I returned
Then an hour sitting in the license gallery
Glad it was a crappy day out and I didnt waste a sunny day on that joke.
I got a passport that's good for 8 more years
Be prepared to pay $22 for that certified copy @ the health dept. Bring money for parking too- city garage charges $1 an hour or any portion of an hour.
Is there anything that doesn't take 4-5 hours at a Maryland MVA? It's not like they hire the best and the brightest, of for that matter even people who remotely give a damn about your time.
I've held a Maryland driver's license for the last 50 years, and suddenly I need to "prove" who I am. And yet the MVA will issue licenses to illegals! They even have a special Spanish language kiosk for illegals to use to apply. Then they can use that license to vote in Maryland. Way to go Hogan, you liberal RINO POS.

So they cannot ask obvious illegals for id, but can demand we the citizens show ours? I'm going to ask them about that, see what they say. Plus tell the black person where you take your drivers test on the computers to stop letting other blacks use their cell phones to take that test. I saw him look right at a young black kid that was reading the question on the computer screen to someone on the phone and they were giving him the answers. The black officer just turned his back to the kid and did nothing. Crooked as hell.
So what will happen when an illegal with no id comes in to renew their license. Nothing, I bet. They will give it to them and not say a word. Better not let me hear or see them doing that. A complaint will be filed.

I proved my identity when I originally got my license. Love that illegals can get one AND walk out with the physical license that day. Not only do I, a citizen who has already jumped through hoops, have to re-prove myself, I also have to wait for my license to come in the mail.
MVA's illegal chickens have come home to roost, but all of us good ole redneck local citizens have to go thru hell to prove who we are when we have had a MD licence for 50 years and had to prove who we were when we got our license at 16 years old. MD will do anything for money, but only the legal citizens of this country are the ones being put out and having to go through all this BS.
