'Porch pirate' father who used his daughter, five, to steal package from Maryland home is identified

Maryland police are hunting for a man whose five-year-old daughter was caught on camera brazenly stealing a package from a home last month.

Gary Martin Smith, 46, is facing charges of theft under $100, conspiracy to commit theft, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and fourth-degree burglary after police say he instructed the young girl to snatch the box off the porch at a home in Bel Air on November 30.

The Harford County Sheriff's Office issued a warrant for Smith's arrest and shared his photo on social media Wednesday after his daughter was identified by an anonymous tipster.

He has been charged but has not yet been apprehended as of Thursday morning.
