I saw this video on you tube this morning, and there is such a parallel to what is happening in Salisbury. If we continue down the road that Jake Day is taking us, and the good old boys system we will end up just like Harrisburg. Such a shame. We need credible leadership and fresh ideas to bring us back from the brink. I made Salisbury my home 13 years ago and have regretted it ever since. I am looking for a place to move to where I can find decent employment and opportunity, but I will have to sell my home and take a huge loss. Shame on the leaders of this once thriving little gem of a town.

1. Part of the problem is having the same mayor for 28 years. I don't care who it is. Its asking for problems.
2. SO MANY town in P.A. are like this. Scranton. Wilkes Barre. Johnstown.

Harrisburg's incinerator debacle is reminiscent of Salisbury's wastewater treatment plant. They both hired incompetent contractors and both failed to get insurance for the projects. In Salisbury's case, contractor liability was contractually capped at $1,000,000 for the $86,000,000 project.
Here is a thought, research and investigate each candidate before you decide who to vote for... Maybe not base it on what others say or the media, and the bashing that now goes on at debates... Here is another thought, try fixing yourself first, since you are the fools who keep voting for these people, then complain about it after they do things yo u know you don't like, but knew deep down they were going to do those things int eh first place...

I'm sorry to say I'm also from Pa. originally and am sorry to inform you I'm very much in the same boat, and have also seen many similar parallels between Pa. and Maryland that are not good. You are also correct that at the very core of this bad situation is bad politics created by bad politicians. Very sad to see how many good, decent people suffer today because of the incompetence and corruption that is poisoning our government. I'm sorry to also say, it very much looks like this is only the beginning of more horrible things to come. Thank God for Donald Trump, but we need more people like him!

The problem is going on for generations now salisbury's politicians have been not only corrupt but incredibly ignorant. Not enough getting off the shore and too much inbreeding. They constantly get taken by con artists and it's still happening today. Look at dopey day. He falls for everything any snake oil salesman is selling. He's just following in the footsteps of a very long line of imbeciles before him.
11 AM That is one of the many parallels I spoke of. Democratic tax and spend is the other. High taxes is what drives big business out of town, and replaces it with low paying retail jobs. Get out while you can.
Salisbury is on an irreversible path. I'm just trying to get in my last few years of work and then I'm headed south.
That's Government contracting it's the same all through Maryland cheapest bidder gets the job everyone knew it was a disaster from the beginning. Not taking up for Jake but it's set up to help fools fail if you know nothing about how to get the job done you shouldn't be doing the job.
Since Harrisburg is the capital of pa and the state is heavily democratic what would one expect?
Even the people with $$$$ are leaving drive down Riverside drive and see all the homes up for sale.
I moved because of high taxes; water bills and not much to do. How many times can you go to the zoo! I now live near 7 beaches. Plenty of restaurants (good restaurants); great doctors and cost of living affordable. I sold my house in MD and took a huge loss but it is worth it. Get out now before they close the university due to lack of attendance.
I visited Harrisburg once in my teens. Very depressing.
Yes people with money are leaving Riverside Drive but don't forget that is old money and people are dying. Young people cannot afford or the infrastructure is so bad no one wants them.
Pittsburgh had the same problems after steel mines and coal mines closed but Pittsburgh was able to turn their city around. It is really nice now. Don't have much fair in Salisbury so I moved South.
As soon as Marshall Law falls on us you will not be allowed to leave the country.

Salisbury still has a 9% foreclosure rate.
If martial law is declared, you can leave the country, but getting back in will be the harder part.
The last time Salisbury was a "thriving little gem of a town" was when? And does this speak only to the town east of the drawbridges?
