A Viewer Writes: Dorchester County Issues

Last week in a League of Women’s Voters forum in Cambridge, a candidate for Commissioner asked where the $300,000 dollars that was allocated SEVERAL YEARS AGO to address the horrid conditions at the Animal Control facility under Sheriff Jimmy Phillips was at. Sheriff Phillips stormed out at the end of the forum, refused to answer any questions. Since then on Facebook and other social media, heartbreaking photos of the deplorable conditions that dogs are held in have surfaced on social media. Sheriff Phillips and current County Commissioners refuse to officially answer or show proof of where this over Quarter of a Million Dollars tax payer dollars are at.

The State Prosecutor needs to be brought in.

Now, others like former Commissioner and current Commissioner candidate Jay Newcomb and challenger to Sheriff Phillips Greg Robbins are being slandered in public and on Facebook by minions of Sheriff Phillips and current Dorchester County Commissioners who also are mum on where the money is. There is every indication that these good ‘ole boys are running scared and their hands have been caught in the cookie jar full of cash that was allocated for the poor animals.

Where is the outrage???????

Unbelievable...using taxpayer dollars they should be made to show proof of how they spent it!!! I don't know the candidate that asked that question but good for him/her!!!

No way.
Cops are stealing, skimming, and taking from funds they thought no one would ever look at again???

Look for new motorcycles, cruises, jewelry, and other goodies. Look at their tax forms. Pull their phone records and credit card statements. Examine their bank accounts and those of family members.
You know, THE SAME THINGS THEY WOULD DO TO "We, the people" if someone said there was $300,000 missing from say, a trust fund.
Or keep cheering Two Sets Of Laws.

When an ELECTED official (a SERVANT!!), refuses to answer questions from his employer (THAT would be us) about possible felony theft, misappropriation, falsifying records, and mismanagement of fiduciary responsibility, it time for some reminder to him (in the form of a criminal investigation.

Keep cheering.

It has always been this way.
I used to work for Cambridge City Government and saw first hand how bribes and kickbacks worked. For example local wrecker companies would give the police and the dispatchers presents of booze and canned ham as well as a party for us, if we would give them "preferential" treatment when we needed to call a tow truck for an accident scene or a DUI arrest.

I refused and was told this was how things worked if you want to get ahead. I was also told that if I wanted to move up in government, I would need to register as a Democrat and not a Republican. I disobeyed and registered as a Republican!

This was back in the eighties when the Show Dukes of Hazzard was on TV. I used to think of Dorchester County as Hazzard county. My father used to always say that when they made the show Peyton Place, they were talking about Cambridge!

Looks like Dorchester is selling out citizens like Somerset did with the massive solar installations and vats of manure aka biomass coming to your rural communities.

You must prove a reason for an audit.
