The perpetrator of the shooting at a Jacksonville video game tournament that left two people dead legally purchased his firearms in the state of Maryland, despite their strict gun laws.
Jacksonville Sheriff Mike Williams said that the shooter recently purchased two handguns used in the shooting from a licensed dealer in the Baltimore area at a news conference Monday afternoon.
According to the Giffords Law Center, “Maryland prohibits any person from purchasing more than one handgun or assault weapon within a 30-day period.”
So, with the knowledge that the shooter purchased the guns legally, it would seem like he purchased one gun, waited a month and then purchased the other.
Further, Court records obtained by the Associated Press show that the shooter was previously hospitalized in psychiatric facilities on two occasions and was prescribed anti-psychotic and anti-depression medication.

He was from Baltimore.
At 19 you can own a hand gun? Thought it was 21?
66 laws or 6,666 laws for firearms is not going to keep them out of the hands of criminals or those intent on harming others.
Yeah but the thug liberal Politians are protecting there votor Base.
He falsified the background check forms....that not exactly a legal purchase now is it?!?
7:28 of course he falsified the background checks! What would he write under reason for purchase? "I'm going to go on a shooting spree"?! The people most often stopped by these over burdensome laws are law abiding citizens with no ill intent.
Try as we might we can't construct a perfect world. The killer had problems across the years, and they were addressed at the time, with the best of intentions.
Obviously something went tragically wrong, and two innocent men were killed.
Was his intent to hurt gamers the reason he bought the guns? Or was living in Baltimore and fear of the street criminals? He's won previously, and lost previously. What made this such a different situation to him?
From accounts so far he complied with MD law as a buyer, and his previous hospitalizations were much shorter than required to raise a flag about the purchases.
We really want people to get mental health care when needed, and hope it helps them without erasing their ability to enjoy other privileges. Hurting families all around.
Bwahahaha....typical Maryland State Police Licensing Division!!! Inept, incompetent and completely unaware. This falls right in your lap Bill Pallozzi. The blood is on your hands Colonel. Maybe if you actually showed up and DID YOUR JOB you would put competent people in supervisory positions as opposed to taking care of your buddies and hooking up your friends!! Here is a thought, do your job instead of just showing up for a paycheck and the title. Integrity, fairness and service are the three core values of the Maryland State Police but, more importantly, they are three words Colonel Pallozzi knows NOTHING about. Couldn’t happen to a more deserving loser.
I think I read somewhere that murder is illegal, by any means.
