Democratic California Rep. Maxine Waters on Wednesday took a shot at fellow Democrats who want to abolish the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which is tasked with enforcing the nation’s immigration laws.
Democrats who want to abolish ICE — a deeply unpopular political position — “didn’t really think it through,” Waters said at CNBC’s Capital Exchange Breakfast. Her comments werefirst reported by left-wing website Vox.
“Those people who decided and took the position that it had to be abolished did not think it through in ways that said it has to be reformed,” Waters said.
“They didn’t really think it through and talk about it in a way that made good sense to people,” the congresswoman added.
