Fatal Collision In Somerset County


On 6-18-18 at 1552 hrs, Troopers from the Maryland State Police
Princess Anne Barrack, responded to a motor vehicle collision located at N/B Rt. 13 and Peach Orchard Rd, Somerset County, MD.

Upon Troopers arrival they located a single vehicle, box-truck that
drove off the roadway and struck several trees. The box-truck was
fully engulfed in fire. Pocomoke City Fire Department responded to assist with the fire. The driver of the box-truck was trapped inside the cab and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver will be transported to the Medical Examiner’s office for autopsy. The identity of the driver is not being released at this time. Due to several large trees being uprooted, north and southbound lanes of Rt. 13 had to be closed an extended time for tree removal.

Maryland State Police Crash Team and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement personnel responded to the scene to assist with the investigation. The crash investigation is ongoing.

What a shame... I hope it wasn't fatigue related. Over the road tractor trailer drivers are required to sleep after so many hours...But if you travel less than 90 miles from your base, In that case there is not limit on hours you can work. Very dangerous

and on top of that, it was a box truck 826, not a semi. I think you are trying to refer to the 150mile rule, which also is not correct in your assumptions.
