Public Meetings Set On Chesapeake Bay Crossing Study

As part of the Chesapeake Bay Crossing Study: Tier 1 NEPA (Bay Crossing Study), the Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) is hosting a series of public meetings to provide all interested parties an update on the project. At the meetings, attendees will have the opportunity to learn about:
  • the project’s Purpose and Need,
  • scoping activities and public comments received to date,
  • the environmental review process,
  • the alternative corridor development and screening process.
The purpose of the Bay Crossing Study is to consider corridors for providing additional traffic capacity and access across the Chesapeake Bay to improve mobility, travel reliability and safety at the existing Bay Bridge, while considering financial viability and environmental responsibility. The range of corridors will not be presented at these meetings.
Staff will be available to answer questions. No formal presentation will be given, and the same information will be provided at each meeting. All meeting materials will be available at baycrossingstudy.com to view prior to the meetings and for those who choose not to attend in person. Comments may be provided at the meetings, online or by email/U.S. mail.
Locations will be accessible to individuals with disabilities. Individuals who require auxiliary aids should contact the MDTA at 410-537-1000 (711 for MD Relay) no later than three business days before the date they wish to attend.

Since we like to waste money on needless shit, can we get a bridge from the edge of Cambridge area over to southern MD, Charles county and all of those, so I don't have to drive either from ESVA and then up, or so I don't have to drive 3 hours to get to the bay bridge and then down to southern MD... That in and of itself would help get us over there faster and less traffic on the main bay bridge...

Build it across from St. Leonard's/White Sands MD (ROUTE 4) to Taylors Island (Route 16). Route 16 connects back to Route 50 just outside of Cambridge.

Using existing routes works. Trying to build roads through all that muck/mud below Blackwater National Refuge is WAY too costly and all the NIMBY's moaning.

Southern MD to below Cambridge provides a quicker access to the entire DELMARVA region without disrupting conservation areas.

Now the real question is what do the powers that be truly want - because the taxpayer doesn't have a true say so when it comes to BILLION(S) of dollars like this one!

12:48 you are so right! They already know where the bridge will be built and most likely are buying property now to sell it at massive profits when the location is 'announced'.

My husband worked in Prince Frederick for a while. We have always said that would be a great place for a bridge and from looking at a map it is also the shortest distance across the bay. However the Black Water Wildlife Refuge is in that area and you know the liberals would throw a fit you they tried to run a road near there.

If they bring it over to Cambridge, the tie up will be at rt. 50 when the traffic from both bridges merge east bound. If it goes to Crisfield, they will need a bigger highway to OC.

No, we need it in the Tyaskin/Bivalve area.
