Hey, Alexa, What Can You Hear? And What Will You Do With It?

Amazon ran a commercial on this year’s Super Bowl that pretended its digital assistant Alexa had temporarily lost her voice. It featured celebrities like Rebel Wilson, Cardi B and even the company’s chief executive, Jeff Bezos.

While the ad riffed on what Alexa can say to users, the more intriguing question may be what she and other digital assistants can hear — especially as more people bring smart speakers into their homes.

Amazon and Google, the leading sellers of such devices, say the assistants record and process audio only after users trigger them by pushing a button or uttering a phrase like “Hey, Alexa” or “O.K., Google.” But each company has filed patent applications, many of them still under consideration, that outline an array of possibilities for how devices like these could monitor more of what users say and do. That information could then be used to identify a person’s desires or interests, which could be mined for ads and product recommendations.

They can hear everything, and they will usually end up selling your info so people can advertise to you... That is mainly what it is used for, the other is for criminal prosecution for future use... If you do something or say something, and they have the data on it, best believe they will come... Also, if you go the dark part of it, which is still true but sounds like a conspiracy, they have algorithms, that they put your data into, to see if you will be a potential threat to the govt based on what you say, what you do and where you go, what you buy, what you say to friends in text messages or over the phone and even on social media... You can laugh, deny it or whatever your heart's pleasure, still the fact remains this is what they do with it.. And once the technology mark of the beast is fully implemented, it will be like Minority report, and Eagle eye movies all into one...

Where they have tech you can't hide from anywhere in the world, like minority report, and where computers track you and determine if you are a threat like in eagle eye... Then, they are adding AI to the mix with robots and the like... Sure it all sounds futuristic and cool and might even help with some things, but best believe having an self learning AI robot will be worse that Terminator... You might think it is a great Idea to have a self driving car or a robot to carry or fix things for you, but you people always miss the main underlining part of it... The evil part that it is always used for... Everything good can be used for bad...

Alexa is part of the takeover, but people are not smart enough yet to see it.Next an advanced Alexa will emerge and then another,"just to get a foot in the door"just like an encyclopedia salesman used to do.Truth is all advanced Alexa's have already been invented and sit idle waiting to be mass manufactured and marketed. You are welcome Even though you are clueless, you are welcome for the heads up.

What scares me is the fact that google home will be triggered to listen by words determined by google. I know Iv'e said things in the privacy of my home that I would not want repeated..... How a customer really pisses me off with a late payment or crazy change orders....or how my kids drive me nuts.

And why do people get an "Alexa"?

There will never be one in my home. I even have doubts about my cellphone and laptop, even though I disable them the best I can.

If they are doing all this listening, why are they not stopping people from planning and carrying out mass shootings?

Because the world isn’t flat.
