Clear and convincing determination...really? We're leaving our fate up to a judge.. what if he is anti second amendment? What if hes a liberal? What if hes just plain crooked and bought? Third party ONLY, and NOT LEO. This is an EXTREMELY delicate area and will require much more than this knee-jerk "oops, we'll fix that right quick" response. I don't claim to have an answer, but will be thinking hard on it for a couple weeks for solutions.
I really believe our forefathers have generated legislation like this before our time in dealing with the mentally ill, and some of those laws may still be on the books and some repealed. A long look at HISTORY should guide us all here.

Ask someone how many people have ever been charged, prosecuted and sentenced to jail for perjury in the state! I can assure you it is a small number Maryland will become a gun confiscation state within 5 years!

I've read the summaries of what lawmakers would like to have happen. However, in lieu of recent horrors I feel it is a quick reaction. Tragedy occurs, people get angry, laws are passed that will hopefully hinder the problem,etc.
Vigilance prevents crimes. After Reagan was shot, new laws were enacted but they are not why Presidents since haven't been shot ; vigilance has protected them.
A sore lack of vigilance allowed the Parkland massacre. How would a law like ERPO prevented that tragedy?
Please regard the question in bold letters before giving any possible advantages to this law.

They got caught pulling a Pelosi. You have to pass it to see what is in it. Why did they not read the Bill? Do they not interns to read the Bills and point out these unacceptable points? Sounds like they are there for the money and not the people they are supposed to be representing.

In any form, this is a bad Bill. We have so many laws on the books, LEO's can't keep track of them or read them all.
Arm the willing teachers and make the schools a hard target. Look at Maryland's recent school shooter scenario. SRO ran toward the danger and stopped the carnage in under one minute!

I don't care what the bill says, how it is worded, what kind of trickery you put in there for the stupid masses, and who it is to help... Politicians are criminals, they don't follow the law, so it doesn't matter what the bill says, or what you say you will do with or under the bill... You will take it to far, you will over reach, and you won't follow the law...
And furthermore, why does someone else get to determine without evidence, or knowledge of the situation, be able to say someone is a harm to someone or themselves, without the person getting due process??? And in the end it won't matter because the cops will take the guns and won't ever give them back even if the claim was a shame or false...
NO one holds these people accountable, certainly not cops themselves, or judges...

The supreme court has long been a political machine, not ruling from the Constitution, WE the People have had enough trampling on the Constitution just because its trendy!!

What about the hundreds that are being killed every year in these demoncrat run cities. Thats way way way more children dead than all of the childrens deaths in ALL schools shootings the past few years combined. What about them? I doubt very seriously that you are doing anything productive to stop them. Laws don't stop those killings do they? Most of those shooters didn't have a background check to obtain their guns. Anybody can get a hot gun on the streets. Maybe if YOUR CHILD was saved from a DEATH by a LAW ABIDING CITIZEN with A LEGAL REGISTERD GUN, you would see things differently.
