Yep, give Jim Ireton a gun and all will be safe.
It may not prevent another occurrence but may help as a survival tool. Often deranged people don't care or have fear because they don't understand what's going on. I am as far right as you can get but also believe some things can't be prevented. It sure doesn't hurt to try though and not drop the ball like the F.B.I. just did.
These people who want to kill don't care if everybody is armed . They don't care about life including their own .
Its not meant to be a deterrent.. it is a reminder of the hard lesson they are about to learn if they open fire in a school... That there aren't just a flock of sheep in school... There are sheppards strapped with staffs that will protect their flock.
The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.

You're wrong, at least in the recent Florida case. He not only wanted to escape and get away with it, but now that he's caught, he wants to plead guilty to avoid the death penalty. Oh yeah, he wants to live, alright.
Others haven't quit shooting until the cops are there. Only a few will kill themselves, and that's only after they know it's going to be by their hand, or the cops. Without a potential gun being trained on them, they don't quit shooting. Arming and training school staff will go a long way in preventing deaths, or at the least, minimizing the casualties.

We have taxpayer paid , armed deputies in our schools. Is that not enough?
