I read with a great deal of satisfaction the comments about the "independence" card used to buy beer. Trust me when I tell you that it was the taxpayer funded card WAS used to buy beer. And to the
person who said I needed a new wife, screw you, she's my best friend and a hell of a lot smarter than you.
The store in question is the Beverage Barn on the point between Snow Hill Road and Vine Street, nothing to hide here. I work and I pay taxes and chances are some of the commenters do neither.

Yawn, and again so what....once it is spent then no more until next month!!! If they don't use it inside they make deals out back and they still get away with beating the system!
Abominable. Under no circumstances should government assistance be allowed to be used to buy beer, or liquor, cigarettes, etc.
In fact - remove soda, candy, chips, pretty much anything that isn't actual food.
I don't understand what card you are talking about.
I'll bet you use you Independence card to buy that tobacco poison too. By definition, if you are addicted to tobacco, you are not independent.
It isn’t allowed. Some retailers break the rules and will ring products such as beer or tobacco up as Grocery so the transaction goes through

If you are so "concerned" about your tax dollars, write a letter to the state with your information. Only posting it here makes you a gossip and no way to verify if what you say is true. You may even get a reward, that should cheer you up a bit. You didn't even witness it yourself, you are repeating what your wife told you. In a court of law that is considered hearsay and not admissible.
If you want to be taken seriously report it to the authorities. We will see what happens after that.
Taliban doesn't care about the rules. Just more money for them to send to their home country. Nothing will get done about it.
The little gas store in Parsonsburg will let you buy gas with it, and ring it up as grocery...I have seen it done by the same customer and same man behind the register twice with my own eyes. I am not surprised, but the abuse of the system is everywhere.

Yes, they've been doing since I retired in 2016. Worked for Co that serviced c stores. You'll notice they have 2 registers. I told the revenue agents many times but they didn't care. Unbelievable.
Independence Card has 2 different accounts on it folks.
One account is for SNAP - the food stamp account.
Second account is for welfare - one can buy anything or use the ATM with it.
Educate yourselves.
@12:36 Not everyone gets both sides! But most who get the SNAP side ABUSE the system! Educate yourself! I work retail and have seen it many times, when you attempt to explain they can't do that you are taking your life in your own hands!

Maybe you should get out of retail. You judge all others from the few instances you encounter each day? Do you realize the small number that is in comparison to all the users?
