Union says it has organized minimum wage activists

The United Media Guild says it has organized activists hired by the Service Employees International Union to lead the latter's "Fight for $15" minimum wage movement, placing an awkward spotlight on the SEIU, which has been unenthusiastic about letting its own organizers organize.

"Fight For $15 is the international movement of underpaid workers taking a stand against poverty wages. The activists we’ve represented have worked the front lines of that battle. So the UMG is pleased to announce we now represent organizers coast to coast in the consolidated national fast food campaign," the St. Louis-based affiliate of the Communications Workers of America announced this week.

The United Media Guild says it formally organized the activists through a card check election on Nov. 29. Its announcement does not state whether SEIU has formally agreed, though it does state, "Soon we will start bargaining their initial collective bargaining agreement with the National Fast Food Workers Union (an affiliate of SEIU)."

Lets make all jobs minimum wage despite your education skill set and expertise and see how the middle class thrives. If it's not enough for you create your own job and start a business. Everyone is sitting waiting for something to change and be rewarded but its just not going to happen. The post war middle class consumerist fantasy has fizzled out. Opened market communist countries have a more aspiring and risk taking entrepreneurial populace willing to suffer take risks to thrive and prosper. The dream we were sold seems empty guarantees now. You may never afford to marry or procreate own a home or prosper. Despite our faithful and delusional rights to do so. This tax break is a big JOKE. If a few hundred dollars or even a few thousand back really changes your social standing you are already lost in the abyss. We have to resign our expectations of the American dream it blossomed and now it's bankrupt and we have to adapt.

I have CDL-A and local companies paying this minimum wage you all want for McDonalds. Does that mean with qualifications and experience I should get a $4.00 an hr raise?

4:55 PM - Ocean City bus drivers don't get $15/hr. That's why the McDonald workers don't apply for bus driving jobs in OC.
