Suspect(s) Sought After Shots Fired Into Somerset Co. Home

(WESTOVER, MD) — Maryland State Police are seeking help from the public as they attempt to identify the person or persons responsible for shooting into an occupied home in Somerset County early this morning.

Just after 5:00 a.m. today, Maryland State Police from the Princess Anne Barrack responded to a home in the 8100-block of River Road, Westover, Md., after a man living there reported his residence had been shot at. Responding troopers found neither of the two occupants in the home had been injured, but the residence had been struck by gunfire.

The victim, a 55-year-old man who is not being identified at this time, told troopers he and his mother live in the residence. He said at about 5:00 a.m. today, he was asleep on a sofa in the living room when he heard multiple loud ‘pops’ outside his home. He then noticed what appeared to be bullet holes in his living room walls.

Looking out the window, the victim reported seeing a sedan leaving the area with red rectangular tail lights, each that appeared to be divided into three sections. The vehicle was last seen headed north on River Road.

Maryland State Police Forensic Sciences Division crime scene technicians responded and processed the scene, collecting evidence from inside and outside the home. Investigators from the Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Division responded and are conducting the ongoing investigation. Neighbors in the area told investigators they heard the shots fired this morning. Additional interviews are continuing.

Anyone with information about this shooting is urged to contact Maryland State Police at the Princess Anne Barrack immediately at 443-260-3700, or msp.princessanne@maryland.gov. Callers may remain anonymous.

There was a day when some of us could identify make, model and year of every American car by its taillights at night.

Yeah, but there were only like 4 models made by 3 different manufacturers in the 60's.
