Delmar's Gal Pal Fight Club

By Thornton Crowe

"Violence as a way of achieving racial justice is both impractical and immoral."
-- Martin Luther King, Jr.

Looking at the post from earlier this week, it is stunning to read the comments where people are actually defending the trouble-making fighters and lashing out at everyone who suggests these girls are responsible for their own actions. How is this not an indictment of not only our school system but our truculent society on the whole?

One comment was stirring when they suggested these "animals walk among us in stores..." because most people I know are ultra-cautious now days - especially during the Christmas season where predators lurk the malls, waiting for an opportunity to rob and assault shoppers. It is a sad situation that warrants law enforcement attention; however, with the ineffectual legislature to charge these kids as adults on a more constant basis, it is a moot point. The police can only go so far and the parents, much like LaVar Ball, often defend their child's criminal actions instead of exacting their own punishment.

When one looks to our legal system, minors are treated with kid gloves and then we're left with the criminals who are reared on victimhood and false perceptions about how the world works. Look at shows like Scared Straight, where the teens taken to the state penitentiary for the day, have no problem mouthing off to people - some of which who've killed others - and they don't scare easily. In fact, on many of the follow-ups, we find the experience didn't dissuade the teen from committing crime at all.

Is this also a prime example as to why the Federal Conceal and Carry is also a good idea at this point in our history. If they don't know who is or who is not packing heat, chances are they'll temper their mouths and actions. However, there will always be some who feel they're invincible.

The question as far as area schools are concerned is, what are the schools and the WCBOE going to do about this steady rise of school bullies who are creating a Fight Club environment? This is hardly a place where good kids can get an education in anything but fighting and all the wrong ways to settle disputes.

As for the poor-pitiful-victim commenters, your bully tactics are weak and mundane at best, especially done on a blog so why bother? You're just wasting your time. There's nothing you can say that can defend or justify the two girls in that video or their violent tendencies. There are more ways to solve differences without using violence. Shame on you for even trying!

Note: The image above is not the actual perpetrators of the Delmar incident, to protect the guilty.

The comments just show how sick our local region is right now. Trying to justify violence and teachers claiming they have no power when all they have to do is take it, is just how grotesque this area is now.

Another argument for why private school is the only answer. Let the savages have the public school system, it's not like the good students will learn anything anyway.

WCBOE won't do anything because they depend too much on the Federal TIT to challenge the insane policies of the Obama era. Until deVoss does something on a federal level, you won't hear a peep out of the local idiots and even then, something tells me they love the savage ridden schools.

I get your point and somewhat agree, but police open carry and it doesn't temper many. We only have one government official that wants anything done about our protection and he meets with resistance with every move. Even if "they" agreed and it was once their idea, they go against him because they believe the fat failure was entitled to the job.

1112 its our right to carry. I for one, will always carry regardless. Don't care if it makes some idiot back down or not. That BLM terrorist group is teaching these kids to not fear the police and stand up to them so using the police of a example isn't really legit.

It is why I am leaving prior to full retirement and taking a massive pay cut- to get away from the insane-asylum that is WCBOE

With this kind of crap going on maybe its time we stopped hiding minor's identities in the news and on the weekly reports. Why should they get to hide behind anonymity? They're obviously proud of their violence, so why not let the entire community know who they are?

TC and all, I was told this by a teacher friend.

This will really piss you off- there are 18- and 19-year-olds in our high schools collecting disability checks monthly because they literally are too unable to function in our society and cannot behave themselves AND THE GOVERNMEMT GIVES THEM MONEY!!!

Yes, your tax money is being given to pay them before they leave high school. If that doesnt make you mad, I dont know what will!

We have given the minority kids a licences to to do what they want without punishment . This has rubbed off on the whites and I believe it is simply to protect themselves. You can say what you want or believe what you want . Statistics tell the story . Look at the jails and juvenile institutions , the same , mostly blacks .
So how do we cure this , we give them more , we build them playgrounds , we build them basketball courts , we keep giving , that's the problem.
If you think this comment racial then you have a problem , it is the truth and all you guys know it.

In general 1128, the government has to stop giving money for most things. Our society has become overly-dependent on the Federal money and it has to stop. It's time the government restrained spending unless it's necessary for the safety of communities. If a neighborhood wants a playground or a park, then they can do fundraisers to build one. We can't continue to live in this mindset that gov dole is a bottomless pit.

Wicomico County now has a policy that students under 2nd grade can not be suspended. If behaviors were addressed more in the lower grades just may we wouldn't have so many behavior problems in the higher grades. Parents need to be parents and not just their children's friends. Discipline, structure, and respect has to be taught at an early age in the home.

Its time to start some more private schools

Your answer is a nearsighted and a short term solution. If you can afford to send your kid to private school then good for you. Have at it. Letting the public schools fail is not the solution though. The kids that go to public schools still make up probably 90 percent of the students in the county. Those are the students who will be taking care of us in the future, serving us in restaurants, cleaning ours schools, hospitals and businesses, bank tellers and car salesmen, and so on. We need to do a good job educating them to help keep our country thriving. Hence the original purpose of a free public education for all. These public school students will also be the ones clogging up the judicial system and filling up our prisons. How mich does it cost to house a prisoner in 2017? It's an average of 20 to 40 thousand a year- depending on location. And where does that money come from?
That's right, our taxes.
https://thelawdictionary.org/article/what-is-the-average-cost-to-house-inmates-in-prison/

I don't have the answers of how to turn around public schools. If I did I would be working for Trump. I do know the answer is not turning our backs or running away from public schools. The answer is somewhere in common resources from the feds, states, stronger court sentences early on, parents being held accoutable, schools being allowed to discipline as necessary, alternative education and training programs, not forcing kids to stay in school until 18 when they want to enter the workforce full time, and on an on. Pay for it now or pay for them later, but running away from the problem is not the answer.

Anonymous said...

That's right. Schools are hamstrung by the federal money. They need it to survive. Let's hope DeVoss and Trump allow the state's to have more control of the federal dollars for education.

Sorry 1155 your argument is stupid. Your child's education and safety are PRICELESS. Get it. And if it means working another job to send them to private school, then do it. You owe your kids that much.

Anonymous said...

Looky at 1155. Another parent who has a 1,000 reasons to explain their own negligence. Nice throw in with the class warfare bit. Nice touch. Agree with 1157, if you care about your kids education and safety you gotta do what you gotta do to make it work. Keep your head buried in the sand. Can you breathe down there?

11:18....and where did you read that I am against you packing. Truth is everyone qualified should carry. As for as legit...though you don't care if subjects fear you or not, what makes you think they will temper their mouths (as the author stated), when they know a LEO is armed and they don't give a hoot about them, they sure don't give a hoot about you. Sorry you are confused. Signed: 11:12

I am a teacher in Wicomico county and I am going to retire on the very first day I can. I will not stay one extra day.

You're right except for one thing: It's not just "our local region", it's in virtually every urban region in our country.

11:55 here. For your info, I am White, a male, Republican, conservative and not talking about my own kids or any negligence of mine. My kids are all very successful. I am simply stating the bigger picture that some people don't want to see. It is easy to send our kids to private school and turn a blind eye to the problems- but that is not going to make them go away or fix them. The only thing that does is hurt us and our country in the long run.

Anonymous said...

120 you are entitled to your opinion and I'm entitled to mine. Fixing the problem really worked in the early seventies when busing happened, didn't it? It really cause integration and assimilation. You can't legislate racial harmony. Racial discord happens because of ignorance. The argument for Private Schools is, they're not cowing down to the government and depending on their rules to accept money. They are interested in educating their students. You can do your social experiments at the mall on Friday night but when it comes to your kids having an education, it's time to smarten up and put them in environments where that's the sole focus not a racial war.

Anonymous said...

1:02 No it isn't. These problems are more socio economic than racial. Children being bred by poor people with little or no education, minimum wage or no jobs that don't train their children to behave, value education or human life.

Anonymous said...

Issue and train every teacher on tazer's. Taze the aggressors. Stop these delinquents before they get to prison or dead. 2nd time they need to be charged as adults. Previous and current legislative reps and BOE admins have taught these animals there is little punishment for their violent actions against people, we all see it more and more every day, this must be turned around immediately.

It is all of our faults for letting it get this far. The most we can do now is step back and protect your kids. You have to know that schools around here and across this country won't. So I feel the answer is if you are not in school to learn and make your life better then get the hell out of the school system and let the ones that want to be there. Only YOU kids have choice do you want to do end up in jail or do want it takes for a good life? This is for races. If you acted up in school you should get your lazy ass kicked out. Then you will turn out just like your mom and baby dad. Your choice if you have a head then maybe you have brain in it. Try using it and be ready for what you can do to make things better for YOU Stop hating people that are not like but start seeing them as people with different colors/views then you. That goes for the whites. Look we all bleed red. Lets stop hating and learn to get along. I'm 67 and learned this along time age. I know this is falling on deft ears so it will go on. There is no way to change it as long as parents send their kids to school thinking the school will make their kids better. But the school won't if the parents fight them all way. So start getting rid of the bad weeds and maybe your grass will grow. Get the point people come on now. If you want your kids to be good try being good yourself.

We have to draw a line in the sand and stick to it. The solution is really very simple. School is a place where children and young adults should feel safe and be able to get an education. Should these kids threaten that sanctuary they should be punished, SEVERELY. When I was growing up we had reform schools for trouble makers. They were run like the military. If you caused trouble in school, you were brought to family court. Where a Judge that read the law as black and white with no gray area sent you away until you had a review at a time determined by the trouble you caused. If he felt you had learned your lesson you were allowed back in school, but monitored. If these kids are left to behave the way they are now. It's only a matter of time until they find themselves in prison or dead.

Anonymous said...

It's a result of Liberal / Democrat policies.

Anonymous said...

I'm not saying it worked in the 70's. I am also not talking about race. I absolutely applaud private schools for focusing on education. But believe me, if you donate enough money to the private school your kid can pretty much behave as they wish. Just one question for you. If we fail to turn around public schools and offer decent educations for those kids who can't afford a private school, where will those kids end up? What will happen to them? They will survive, maybe by robbing your house or stealing from your business. Again, we can't just turn our heads and think the problem will go away. Another question, who is going to build the private schools for these kids? The ones we failed to educate in public schools?

Anonymous said...

I guess what bothers me most is the students cheering it on.

Anonymous said...

Until we allow suspension of these students, it will only get worse. I am so sick of how the powers to be are worried about money tied to discipline numbers. Who cares? Our schools are a war zone because kids can do what they want. We scratch our heads and wonder why when they get to middle school they act the way they do. We are so worried about "hurting their feelings". So lets give them a timeout, and some candy and send them back to class. I pray that things will change, but it sure doesn't look good at this point.

What does WCBOE have to do with a fight that occurred at Delmar H.S. which is in the town of Delmar DE. in Sussex County. Just wondering?

Anonymous said...

@7:27pm, And you can tell which students were doing the cheering.

I know of two teachers who left public school for teaching in a private school because of these animals. The staff in their school would do nothing because they did not want to put up with the parents of idiots like this who act worse than their children. They come in cussing and ranting and throwing their hands around and whipping their head around as if it was on a swivel. Claiming their kids, "Din do nuffin". They said you would not believe what goes on in schools today. They need to bring back corporal punishment and give these brats a good spanking. Because their parents sure are not instilling discipline in their little brats.
