Breaking News: In a rare move, the N.R.A. gun lobby endorsed tougher rules on a device used by the Las Vegas gunman to convert a rifle to fire rapidly

The National Rifle Association on Thursday endorsed tighter restrictions on devices that allow a rifle to fire bullets as fast as a machine gun — a rare, if small, step for a group that for years has vehemently opposed any new gun controls.

BEcasue the NRA is no different and has been hijacked like everything else, you will see soon enough... They will push for gun control too... Right after they take your money!!!!

The NRA giving in on any control measure is a RINO-like slippery slope that will eventually erode more of our rights!

NRA figures if they give a little on something no one uses then they can avoid stricter legislation.

This is a common sense solution and I'm glad the NRA is supporting it.

A congressman said on TV that we better remember what the 2nd Amendment was written for, which is to GUARANTEE the ability of "We, the people" to resist and destroy a tyrannical government.
People a lot smarter than any of us knew what lives in men's hearts and they also knew that without that ability, there would be NO rights.
Our very freedom depends on the right (and importantly, the ABILITY, which is a big word with big meaning) of the people to rise up and do what we have done before -- protect individual freedom and individual rights -- at the point of a gun.
There are thousands of people in positions of power and authority doing everything they can to weaken, limit, redefine, and eliminate those rights.
There are millions of people cheering them on.
All the rest of us can do is buy more ammo.
I'm a little pissed the NRA is taking any crap or giving an inch.
Refer to the Congressman's statement.
Keep cheering.

The atf screwed us in 2010 when they ruled a bump stock is considered a part and thus not regulated. The atf should make them a class 3 item and problem solved.

Knuckleheads. They have been around for 7 years. Even if they do ban this accessory for a tool it will make no difference. For one, there are many more other objects that do the same thing. Ever hear of 3-d printers? Anyone who wants one can probably print one in 5 minutes.

Bump stocks are currently a hot item. Many stores and websites are sold out. There is a rush to buy them now since they might be banned. And for only $99 bucks how many have already been sold.

Until they find a way to ban the evil in people's hearts there is nothing they can do to stop this. And I'm tired of hearing the U.S. is the only country where mass killings take place. This is simply not true and can be easily verified.

If ANYONE wants to kill someone and is willing to give up their life in doing so, there is not a law in this world that would stop them.

We have a bill of rights, not a bill of needs. People like to point to Austrailia as a place they got rid of guns and no more mass shootings. Austrailia never had a RIGHT to own guns like we do. Austrailia never had to throw off an oppressive government like we did. So stop using them for an example. It doesn't work.

On March 1, 2014, several men armed with long knives converged on a train station in Kunming, China, and stabbed 31 people to death while injuring hundreds more. It's not just guns.

Tell it to OBAMA .

It's a part NOT a gun.

7:42. Both you and the Congressman are adding a lot of your own interpretation to the second amendment which simply reads "A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.". I don't see the word Ability anywhere, nor do I see where it says anything about resisting a tyrannical government.

The NRA gets 74% of their funding from gun manufacturers.....they don't make these devices.....that's why the NRA supports this.

Due to the growing level of violence in our world and the extolment of peace in Scripture, there is much debate among Christians regarding whether it is appropriate for a Christian to own weapons. However, a comprehensive look at the Bible offers insight regarding historic practices that inform this issue today.

We have the example of the apostles, who owned weapons. On the night Jesus was betrayed, He asked His followers to bring swords. They had two, which Jesus claimed was enough (Luke 22:37-39). As Jesus was being arrested, Peter sliced off the ear of one of the servants of the high priest (John 18:10). Jesus healed the man instantly (Luke 22:51) and commanded Peter to put away his weapon (John 18:11). Peter’s ownership of a sword was not condemned, only his particular use of it.

On another occasion, soldiers came to be baptized by John the Baptist. When asked what to do to live for God, John told them, “Do not extort money from anyone by threats or by false accusation, and be content with your wages” (Luke 3:14). John stopped short of telling them to lay down their weapons.

And then there is David, who praised God “who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle” (Psalm 144:1). The Old Testament contains many other examples of godly men who owned and used weapons, usually in the context of warfare.

The Bible never forbids a Christian from owning a weapon, but it does offer some principles to consider. First, Christians are called to be peacemakers (Matthew 5:10). A Christian considering the purchase of a weapon should prayerfully consider if doing so would aid in peace-making.

Second, a Christian should only own a weapon for a purpose that would honor God (1 Corinthians 10:23). Using a weapon for hunting, military or law enforcement duty, or self-defense may honor God. Still, a person should reflect on his or her motives for owning a particular weapon.

Third, a Christian should abide by local laws, including gun laws. Romans 13 is clear that governing authorities are from God and are to be obeyed. Further, we are to pray on behalf of governing leaders who oversee our communities and nation (1 Timothy 2:1-2).

Ultimately, there is nothing sinful about owning a gun or other weapon. A weapon can be useful and even necessary in some contexts; at the same time, Christians should carefully consider their motive and purpose in owning a weapon,

What part of "shall not be infringed" does the NRA not understand. I'm done with the NRA.

who is the cop hater? where has anyone said anything about hating cops?

7:....disingenuous much?
You SHOULD know that Jefferson wrote a lot about his fear of tyranny in the new republic. THAT is why the 2ND Amendment is written. THAT is unquestionable, in any way.
If the people do not have the "ability" to acquire weapons, the 2ND Amendment is meaningless.
Or is that too much sense at one time for you?
Get back into your kneeling position and keep cheering. The ignorance of our history and what makes this country unique among nations is appalling.
The Constitution is very likely the greatest political document ever written, but there ARE many Americans who would love to see it disappear.
They are cheerleaders for our destruction.
